Thanks again for your posts! Now almost ending day 2 my lower back and the back of my neck is killing me. I wonder if it's when they picked me up off the operating table and put me back on the roller bed when I was knocked out. Seems weird. I was just sitting out on my deck and saw a neighbor cooking hotdogs on his grill. I wondered how they would taste if I put them in the blender!! lol Time for some pain meds and night night! Thanks again for all your comments!

Default Oh Lordy

Oh lordy lordy lordy. I FEEL for you. I had my tonsils out when I was 26. I am now 31 and til this day I still maintain that it was the most EXCRUCIATING pain ever. I was laid up for two weeks and...oh jeez...my prayers are with you. However, it was seriously the best thing I ever did. The doctor said that the tonsils were the worst he had ever seen. I haven't had strep at all(used to get it a couple of times a years) and the only sore throat I get is scratchiness right before a cold. When you heal up it will be worth it my friend.

I had my tonsils yanked out back in 1963 at the age of 10.
I remember being in Jeanes Hospital, and the nurse gave me something.. Sitting up, talking to my mother in the hospital room, The nurse asked me to count backwards from 100....I think I got to 92... all of a sudden I fell back on the pillow... BOOM!

The next thing I know was it was the next day, and I woke, my throat was sore, and they were giving me ice cream.
I remember laying on the sofa at home, watching the Presidential Funeral of Kennedy in black & white. It took about two weeks to recover and heal my throat.

Best wishes to you and your recovery! My sister went through that. She has to seriously restrict her ice-cream intake, now.

Yikes I feel your pain! God speed to you!

Well it's day 7 and I just ate a ham and cheese sandwich! YUM! lol Last night I actually went to Champs and got the tuna melt. That was a little rough. By the end I was feeling the pain again. I was taking small bites and chewing it real well with a drink in between. The thing that had me really mad is I hate onions. I don't mind a little but I asked the server if there were any onions and she gave me the "yea I actually eat that all the time and they are in there but small" well they were huge! I was sitting there thinking here I am finally eating somewhat real food and hating it! lol I'm not one to send food back. Scared they will do worse things to it!

My meds run out today other then the pain meds. I only took the pain meds 3 nights to go to sleep. Didn't really need them. I tuffed it out! I go to the docs on Tuesday for my check up at Jefferson.

Just to catch up on the few days missed in case anyone cares... By Wed I was eating mac and cheese and mashed potato's from WaWa. I was surprised how good both of them were! Jello, apple sauce, pudding, Rita's water ice other then that.

The water ice is the real saver. When I'm feeling dry or pain I just get a large and eat it slow. The inside of my mouth is so frozen by the time I'm done it all feels good! I would recommend staying as far away from ice cream as possible! Ice cream gave me nothing but problems. Something with the dairy. It was sticking to my scars and the worse part it was sticking to my Uvula!!! It was making me insane actually. I would try ice cream and then I would have to drink 3 or 4 bottles of water to clean out the back of my throat! So anyone getting this done as an adult do your self a favor and stay away from ice cream. It's all about the water ice! I can't say how Rita's has been my savior! I have about 10 gallons in the freezer now! I was getting tired of it so I needed more flavors! lol But that helps A LOT! That and chewing on chopped ice.

But everything feels fine now. I have a little pain on the one side in the back and some on the back top of my mouth. But other then that seems to be doing well. I think the worst part of it all is sleeping and waking up and your mouth is so dry it feels like it's gonna shatter like glass when you finally get something to drink! Other then that not to horrible of a procedure all in all. Thanks again for all the well wishes!!!

Not to be gross, but have you looked at them yet? A few days after I got mine out, I shoved my tongue out of the way to see where my tonsils where and almost fainted. There were huge holes that looked like they had been dug out with a melon baller. It was just horrible.

lol well I did look in there and saw white, black, red, some other stuff and stopped looking! I have been peeking in there from time to time just to make sure there is no blood running more then anything but yea gross!!

Oh want to see something funny. Just go on utube and search for tonsils. You'll find operations, People showing off their newly taken out tonsils and other stuff that will really gross you out! I held it together and the night before watched a doctor walk you thru the procedure on utube. I told my doctors when I was on the table.. I said don't mess me up in there I just watched this procedure on utube last night! He got a kick out of that and was telling the other doctors about it. Always nice to make the doc smile just before he's going have his way with you!
