Default Funnel Cake in the NE?

Is there any place to get good funnel cake in the NE (or surrounding areas) pretty much year round? You know... not having to wait for a carnival or going down to the boardwalk.

Sorry for the super-late reply! I don't ever get e-mail notifications of replies, for some reason.

Anyhoo...enjoy...

3 eggs, beaten
2 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg

Beat eggs, vanilla, sugar, and milk. Mix dry ingredients. Beat batter until smooth. Run batter through a funnel into hot oil using a circular motion. Sprinkle powdered sugar over funnel cakes.

Other notes I've gleaned:

The Pennsylvania Dutch Treat

There are a few things a beginner at funnel cake making should know.
· Do not crowd cakes in the hot fat. Just do a few at a time so the heat of the frying pan is not lessened.
· If you are using a regular funnel, be sure the tube opening is at least 5/8". You'll need to use your finger to keep the tube closed and to control the flow, when using a regular funnel.
· Practice funneling the dough.

Directions:
· Partially fill funnel cake pitcher, hold it over the hot fat and pour to make shapes like sticks, circles, spirals or whatever shape you like.
· Fry the cakes on one side, turn and fry on other side until golden brown.
· Drain on brown paper.
· Dust with confectioner's sugar and enjoy while still warm.

I made some at home shortly after I made the post... there weren't bad, but they weren't as good as the kind you can find on the boardwalk or at a carnival
