I did a quick search and noticed someone in another forum posted in May that there were no bookstores in the Franklin Mills Mall. When did Borders leave? I went today and there's a Nike Outlet store taking up the spaces where the Samsonite Outlet, the Borders Express, and the ethnic decor store once stood. To make matters worse, Nike is right next to another sneaker store with the Rockport and Reebok Outlets being only a few steps away! What madness! To top it off, library branches (not the regionals) will be closed on Saturdays starting in July.

Barnes and Noble is opening a branch in the Neshaminy Mall, I rather go there.
Franklin Mills is very seedy, the stores and the clientele have really gone downhill, which is hard to do since they were at bottom of that hill since the 2nd or 3rd year they were open. I rather drive an extra 5 minutes to Neshaminy or an extra 10 or 15 minutes for Oxford Valley. |

You can never have enough sneaker stores in Philly.
People apparently buy more sneakers than food. Quote:

Okay, this is ridiculous. First the only NE bookstore closes. Now the only Liz Claiborne outlet in Philly closes. The closest one is in Lancaster. I love Liz Golf clothes. Toss them in the wash, no need to put in the dryer, comes out wrinkle-free! Drys overnight, which is great for travel. Unfortunately, I don't own a car so I can't go to the Neshaminy or Oxford Valley Malls. You say I should use Septa? Why do you think I go to Franklin Mills Mall when it opens? Kids don't wake up that early! Use PhillyCarShare? I would if there was a pod in the NE but, once again, we get screwed on a lot of things. The closest pod is at the Market Frankford Terminal. Maybe I should just make a day of it and go to Lancaster with PCS!

Franklin Mills is "ghetto/thug/low-life central." I've been there about three or four times and hated it and the people who were walking around in there. Looked like a high criminal element to me.

And the irony is back in the late 80's when they were planning this mall, the residents near by protested it and then demanded some real high end department stores be put in because they did not want the trash there. Well, it looks like the chickens have finally come home to roost.
