I noticed today they installed a white picket fence at the front of their property-complete with what looks like some tables and chairs. I guess this is to accomodate the smokers? And to allow for some outside relaxation?
It looks nice...imo.

I wonder if they have a proper permit...and how they got away with outside seating...L&I is pretty tough with that stuff. I guess as long as they dont have alcohol outside they are ok.

This outside seating is exactly what Frankford Ave. needs to give it a jumpstart to attract people.

Instead of calling in L&I to assess fines, maybe we should be encouraging them to boost business along the Ave.

And it won't hurt to have more eyes and ears on the Ave. in the evenings, IMO.

I love it !! SmokeEaters is my main hangout. The place rocks. It is exactly as you described, and outside seating area. They've applied for zoning. If you look on the front door, you'll see the orange sticker.

hmmm .... I think I'm gonna take a walk on up there in a minute or so.

It's owned by a Philly Fireman. It's a fireman's bar, but anyone can go. I'm taking a walk up right now.

Ah, NOW it makes sense. I just kept picturing those little smoke-absorbing ashtrays with the vacuum fans they used to advertise on TV back in the day.

I go past there every day, I think it looks cool, kinda "Outdoor Cafe Style"
and something fresh up this way. I hope more improvements are done along the ave too.
I was in there once when it was Callahan's, but I'm not much of a bar person. On occasion I'd hit Leneghan's on the ave.

Alot of bars are doing this now to accomodate their smoking patrons. Whether it's legal or not is another story. The idea that it will boost anything on the avenue is laughable.
