Default how many of you have a door between your basement and garage?

I've seen many houses in the NE where they had a door going from the basement to the garage. Some people have taken down the whole wall and finished the garage into the basement. So it can't be load bearing down there, right? My home inspector said he "thought it wasn't" (really helpful guy), but a contractor I had out said only the part between the garage and laundry room was but the other part facing the front of the house wasn't. So who has a door down there and which wall is it on?

I had a door, but then I removed all of the walls entirely. I live in an Airlite that was built in 1936 if that helps.

We lived in an airlite on Passmore in Castor Gardens, our garage had been shortened by the P-O to make the basement bigger. I knocked down their end wall and rebuilt back to the original specs, with a door on the washroom side wall that I was extending. While the old wal was down, I braced up of the the joists across from the stairway, just to play it safe. I really didn't think it was load bearing, because it seemed to have the same construction around the stairway area as our old straight-thru in Tacony, which had no basement interior walls (no garage of course).
Our friends out back, on Elbridge, had an airlite that had the garage completely removed, but they left part of the long wall to preserve the washroom area. Who ever did that work also installed a pilllar in the area of the new family room that would have been the corner of the garage. Maybe they had a little movement in the living room floor right above and wanted to play it safe? It didn't take away from the room much, and safer is always better in my books.

I wish I had a door from the basement to the garage.

We live in a twin in Holme Circle. You have to walk up to the side to go in the front door. There's another door next to the garage that actually faces frontward toward the street. But it just leads to the laundry room and basement. There's no connection to the garage.

I wonder what you'd have to do to change it. If you break through the cinder block and build a door from the laundry to the garage, then you have two doors right near each other which looks kind of weird. And our foundation is poured concrete, so how would you seal up the old door?

Not sure. So I'm not going to do it.

Does anybody even use an Airlite garage to store a car?

Nobody on my block does.

FWIW - The wall between the laundry area and the garage appears to be some sort of concrete wall, which it is, however it's actually thinner that you'd expect. All they did back in the day was string wire mesh from the floor joists to the cieling joist and then trowel on the cement. When it comes time to take it down, you'll find that it's actually a lot easier than you think it's going to be.
