Cool Favorite Group / Concert

With everything going on today (war, gas prices, elections, etc...) I thought I would post something on the lighter side, which I believe may have been posted before. My daughter went to the Tom Petty concert last night and I was just wondering... What is everyone's favorite group and your favorite concert that you went to? Growing up in the '70's, my favorite group was Kiss and went absolutely nuts at their concerts. A few years ago, my wife and I took our kids to a Jimmy Buffet concert. The concert and the whole atmosphere was incredible. Everyone should experience a concert like that just once. Here's hoping that everyone is doing well and keeping cool.

Favorite groups? Between the Buried and Me, and Iron and Wine.

Favorite shows would be see Between the Buried and Me at the 1st Unitarian church in Philly, and seeing Iron and Wine at the Troc here in Philly.

Good times.

Wow, I hate to admit this nowadays but I saw them several times in their early years. At the Tower Theater (no idea how hey didn't burn the place down) with an opening act by the name of Van Halen. The festivals at JFK were always a sure bet with the exception of the time the Stones played it on a monsoon like day and they left(in a chopper) after about a 40 min set that caused the crowd to go beserk and storm and trash the stage. My faves come down to Van Morrison and Solomon Burke bill but that was in NYC, any show by the ultimate party band J.Geils but my fave local show was seeing the late great Rory Gallagher at the now gone Stars nightclub in CC for both the 8 and 11pm shows and hanging out with him and the band afterwards in their hotel until around 7am.

Hey GPO65, When I first saw Kiss at the Spectrum, the opening act was a guy nobody heard of, by the name of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. He came out on stage, scared to death, but put on a great show. We used to follow a local group in the late 70's and early 80's by the name of Witness. They played the local clubs here in Philly and down in Wildwood. Man, where has the time gone.

Was at that one too and was well aware of Bob Seger at the time, I think it was on the heels of him releasing his Live album. I told some of the people that were going with me he was well worth getting there(and inside) on time to see. Just yanked out what I believe is the ticket stub, was 12/21/76 and the price was $6.00(tax incl) for GA.
If you haven't Jim, checkout the Wolfgangs link I have in my sig, some great stuff available there to listen to for free.

Pink Floyd, Division Bell Tour, at the Vet! Went with a bunch of our neighbors back when we lived in Castor Gardens, hired a limo to get us there.... That was thee LOUDEST, yet most distortion-free outdoor concert I have ever been too. For anyone who knows what I'm talking about, the last five minutes or so of Comfortably Numb is one of those times when you could die, and you wouldn't even care. It just takes you away from this world. The combination of that powerful David Gilmour guitar solo, the awsome lighting with the rotating "disco" ball that made the entire stadium seem to be spinning, and of course, all that...um...stuff wafting through the air . Still gives me chills when I hear that song, or catch a video on youtube. Ah, I'm rambling, guess you had to be there....

Guitar solos
This song features two guitar solos by David Gilmour, and is a particular favourite with Pink Floyd fans. The final solo (outro, coda, or fade out), is widely revered by fans worldwide as one of Gilmour's best, and is the archetypal rock guitar solo.

Best group is really not something I could decide, but on the top of the list in no particular order are Pink Floyd, The Police, Metallica, Sublime, Beastie Boys, Johnny Cash.... the list goes on

Best concerts were Aerosmith, Sting, and Cyprus Hill

There's a couple of live Floyd(post Floyd) DVD's out with unbelievable quality. I highly recommend the Roger Waters "In the Flesh" one (2001)
just for "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" alone. PBS was playing about 1/2 of the show several years ago during one of it's fundraisers. Obviously no Gilmour on it, but Doyle Brahmall II and Andy Fairweather Low can easily make you forget there's no Gilmour here for the close to 3hrs it lasts.

U2 has been my favorite band since I was 13 and I have been to 4 of their shows. I also love Coldplay and have seen them three times. I have to say though, my favorite show ever was Keane at the Festival pier like three years ago. Standing in the rain...It was amazing. I love Keane.
