Even though I'd LOOOOOOVE to frequent all of those places mentioned, they all close before I even leave the office. I can only find them open on a saturday if I'm lucky enough to remember. Those places all thrived back in the day when dad went to work, and mom walked up to Frankford ave to do the famlie's shopping. Things have changed .... If they want to survive, and I VERY MUCH want to see them do so because they are an AWESOME business to have in the neighborhood, they HAVE to increase their hours so that people can take advantage of their services. You can have the best damn danish in the world, but if you're only open from 1-2, you've seriously limited the amout of people who will ever tast them. As an example ... I've often wondered why the heck that Coffee shop on Frankford near Tudor doesn't stay open late like the one down by Harbison? The one on Harbison looks like they're doing GREAT !! |

I'm not just saying this because I live within steps of this place, but the DD on Pine Rd & Rhawn is the Best Dunkin Donuts in the NE. Hands down---polite, efficient, never messed up an order, pristine, and a pretty nice crowd passes through.
Rhawn & Dungan is mediocre, not bad, not great---LOVE the Baskin Robbins attached, though. Least favorite in the NE? Torresdale & Cottman. Doughnuts taste like cardboard and coffee is more burnt than patrons of Tantopia. Plus, I've been yelled at for whipping it out before paying (credit card, that is). I guess they like making change there?

I never go to Dunkin Doughnuts if I can help it. The last time I had to, I ordered coffee. He (Indian guy) said, "sugar and cream?" Yes, I said..thinking he would give me packets of sugar and creamers. Nope. He proceeded to dump a huge amount of sugar into the coffee..and what looked like stale cream from some container. YUK!! I told him, 'That's too much sugar!! I can't drink that."
He just looked at me. I said, give me coffee-black, and I'll mix it myself. So, he dumps the original coffee, uses the same cup, and gives it to me, with 3 packets of sugar..and 2 creamers. WTF???? ![]() I practically had to twist his arm to get a few more of each, and he looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for a napkin. I'll stick to Wawa. They're still owned by a local corporation, correct?

I've never understoond the change cups at Dunkin Donuts. They always seem to make me feel guilty about using my card, but why should we have to tip a FAST FOOD store? They aren't providing any more of a service than McDonalds or Burger King. I understand tipping someone that WAITS on you, or a Valet/Doorman/Taxi driver who is should be paid accordingly on service. But why should we tip people that hand a product over a counter like so many other industries? |
