Default I want SUPER CLIP

I want clip to be morfied into Quasi - PHA officers enforcing ALL THE QOFL STUFF AND THE GATEWAY to REMOVAL OF RENTAL LICENSES. I want them to be the QUASI AGENCY that can deal with Loud Neighbors, LACK OF MAINTENANCE, along with POLICE RECORDS TO REMOVE A LICENSE FOR ILLEGAL ACTIVITY. The city might not be able to confiscate the property bc it's a hard win but they definetly should be able to REVOKE A LICENSE, the tennant had No verify income and later is arrested for "Suspecion" or ALLEGITELY Selling then the Landlord should loose the license because How was he paying the rent without a paystub?

Default Dicicco

Someone called me about a problem on Brill St not my hood but I figured I would try and help I called DiCicco to tell them about the problem and they did not even know it was their district, so how much service are they getting?

If a patronage haven means:

- Giving flower pots to those business willing to care for them

- Running street sweepers up and down the avenue freely

- Cleaning up and beautifying public property with the MARC Summer Youth Employment Program (those kids are seasonal employees)

In that case, MARC proudly stands guilty as charged.

IMO, you don't need to explain yourself or speak in defense of the MARC program.

I think there's 1 poster on here that sometimes takes cheap shots at MARC.

The list of projects/activities MARC has sponsored is impressive, IMO.

You're lucky to have this part-time job that is rewarding personally and professionally.

Actually I mostly take (what you consider) cheap shots at CLIP, especially the woman that basically shops all day with the CLIP pickup when she's not busy snoozing in the shade by Tacony Park. I'd call and complain but you never get a live person to pick up the phone. As far as MARC that's an awful lot of work for one full time employee, but I guess that's not inclusive of the work that gets done/contracted out to the "Friends of Mike". Guilty as charged. BTW, your street sweeping machines are useless or else they aren't operated properly but that wouldn't be a surprise anyway when I see who is riding it up and down the Ave. Maybe you could also post info on how some kids could get access/apply to some of those "seasonal jobs", or are they already spoken for?

The future seems pretty bleak for Torresdale ave to me... after watching it's continuous decline over the past decade or so. All those lights will do is give the prostitutes a little more light to do their work. Sounds fab...

Ok Ok, I know many of you will disagree and bash my post.
Ive got a better solution but you probably wont like it.

It can take up to 30 days or more instead of 10 days by mid-summer for CLIP to abate all the overgrown lawns that they cite. Sadly, this sends the wrong message to both the community (we have to look at the jungle lawns day in and day out) and the absentee landlords/low-life renters.
CLIP is a bunch of crap, I go there with complaints (including pictures) and they tell me there is nothing they can do. This is about trash bags just dropped all over the front patio (once the two trash cans are full), I deal with mice, stray cat opening the bags (my hillbilly neighbors) just dump their trash bags out the door until collection day. Then they put them on the curb on Thursday morning (trash day is Friday).
CLIP - bless their patronage staff - tell me: "there's nothing we can do, the bags are tied." I say: "Idiot, the bags are torn open because of mice and stray cats." Idiot doesn't react to that, idiot just keeps repeating that the "bags are tied." CLIP, keeping patronage alive...not much of anything else.

They can come out once those bags are opened and garbage is strewn around...did you talk to the supervisor?

They came out to my neighbors once I explained that the garbage is in (Shop rite) bags but has been ripped open by rats cats and birds, and said garbage is now on the lawn..chicken bones and all.

The street sweeping machines are difficult to maintain. They break down often but in talking with other groups that seems to be the way street sweepers are. As for the drivers, if you're volunteering to run them that's great! Let me know when you can start.

It has been stated on our website for years. On the Community Services page, under the Youth Employment Program - If you are interested, contact MARC at 215-332-MARC or email us at marc.cleansweep@gmail.com.

MARC doesn't see a point wasting money by advertising the jobs in the paper since we get enough applicants each year just by posting it online. Besides, want ads don't work anymore. I've never found a job by looking in a newspaper. Even my high school job I found on a bulletin board in Father Judge. And posting on Monster.com isn't an option - we would get too many applicants and it would be a waste of time sorting through them.

MARC's "contracts" deal with neighborhood businesses that support the community and have good prices because we don't have money to burn. If you're talking about our website, newsletters, press releases, flyers, postcards, brochures, etc. - then that's me sitting in my basement on my computer at night. I printed up 300 newsletters this weekend for MARC's fundraiser, which is on Thursday at Curran's Irish Inn, 6pm-10pm. Tickets are just $30. I look forward to seeing community-minded individuals such as yourself there.

MARC Torresdale Avenue Project Begins

The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) acting on behalf of the Major Artery Revitalization Committee (MARC) accepted the bid of Seravalli, Inc. to construct the first phase of the Torresdale Avenue Project (TAP).

The initial phase increases the lighting to the avenue. With new, shorter lamp posts called “pedestrian poles” in the Tacony business district, more light will be shed on the avenue’s sidewalks and storefronts. This design promotes safety and security at night. Hanging flower baskets on the lamp posts will also serve to beautify the landscape. Work is set to begin this summer and the second phase, which includes intersection and crosswalk improvements, will go out to bid shortly after.

“It’s exciting that after years of the concept and design process we will finally break ground on $2 million worth of improvements to Torresdale Avenue,” said MARC President John Byrne. “We really must thank our elected officials – Councilwoman Joan Krajewski (D-6), state Representative Michael McGeehan (D-173), and Congresswoman Allyson Y. Schwartz (D-13) for their help in securing the funding for this project.”

On Thursday, May 22 at Curran’s Irish Inn, 6900 State Road, 6pm-10pm, MARC celebrates this and other achievements, such as the new SEPTA Loop at Cottman and Torresdale avenues, with their third annual fundraiser. Join the festivities, including food, drinks and door prizes. Tickets are just $30 and the proceeds will be used to improve the community.

MARC is a non-profit community revitalization organization in Tacony, Wissinoming, East Mayfair, Holmesburg and East Torresdale. For more information, please contact 215-332-MARC or visit www.marc-cleansweep.com.
