I'd probably be more receptive to that then having you move in next door. Looks like you might have blown your cover as to actually being a slumlord too huh, how's the weather in NY?

How do you find your renters?

Are you, or can you be subjective?

Default Eating where you sleep

We have alot of people who live and rent in our neighborhood, some good and some well we would like to see move on. The petition I have circulating can be found at Red Robin Dinner, John Perzel's office, Schaaf Deli on Roland, Lou Iatrola Realestate on Longshore, and a few other various stores and locations.

The thread is Combatting absentee landlords and what it involves is having and disclosing a local agent for out of county landlords, having to provide a goverment ID when applying for a license because too many do not provide their real mailing addresses and for the city to implement a 3 strikes and your out, so if you fail to enforce all the clauses in your PA lease not just the one about you getting paid, like Nuisances, maintainance and illegal activities that means to US the community that you are an irresponsible business owner and you would have your rental license revoked for that property.

We expect all Landlords to due Background checks prior Drug Convictions on their prospective Tenants, we expect them to have verifiable income gathering 2 recent paystubs example? And have a stable history with regards to their past living arrangements no more than 2 addresses in 5 years.

We do not want to see a higher percentage of rental vrs homeowners if we can at all help it.

Default Reinvest?

I think truly to reinvest you should be buying, fixing up and then selling to someone that will live there, Renting is really NOT investing for the community.

I'll try and find a petition on Saturday's May-fair and sign it. Perhaps one of these places could have someone going around asking for signatures during the fair? That would be AWESOME !!

can i be subjective...probably not.....because i live in the community i want people who arent going to **** it up. i know a lot of people in the neighborhood so i usually go by word of mouth referrals through trusted friends neighbors.

i know it isnt the BEST option but it damn well beats the other options....

i for example dont THINK bars and drunks are great for the community but i understand it certainly beats dollar stores and nail salons.... perhaps if you are so interested in the neighborhood you should fix them into the nice bookstore or novelty shop people are looking for

Default Maybe

Maybe I tought having someone community minded was better than someone who does not live here running a bar that has been in biz for 70 years.

Rentals can and should be an important part of a healthy community with a diversity of ages and incomes. Too much rental is bad, and too little is bad too. Not everyone can or should own a house.

I think you are being unfair here Cammy. Lark isn't an out of town investor. By being a resident neighborhood landlord Lark is fixing his/her (and our) neighborhood and has a vested interest in having good tenants.
