Or bars, there needs to be more then just "bars" to attract "tourists" and none of that exists(or will in the near future). This thread gets my nomination for one of the most asinine of the year so far.

I completely agree but there have been cute little shops on the ave that just don't make it. Do you really think a nice coffee shop would last more than a week..I would hope so but, I sadly doubt it.

That bar that I like to keep "secret" doesn't get too crazy because beers are more expensive there and that doesn't draw the same crowd as other places in the area.

I believe the coffee shop on Frankford near Hellerman has been in business quite awhile now(couple years?) and apparently succesful.

I make it a point to read as much as humanly possible...mostly history related books but I have a handful of sci-fi and political books in my library.

I'm all for a bookstore. Add a boutique or two, some more decent restaurants, (preferably ethnic restaurants) that should get things rolling. Capitalize on the small-town feel of Mayfair's Frankford Ave. I'm thinking about how Collingswood, New Jersey did just that on Main Street and has made impressive gains.

Nice. The only room in the house that is truly mine is the office. I'm building a mini-library in there; I could never be bored. If I didn't have to work, I'd be even more of an ubernerd.

My PITA thinks I'm always looking at porn. She can't imagine that someone could enjoy reading and researching so much.

I know the area of Collingswood you're talking about. Very cute shoppes. But the parking is a nightmare. It's a real deterrant to shopping there vs. a mall.
