On a related note, I have a suggestion for a new forum: "racist degenerats." Confine posters like this one to that forum so that the rest of us normal folks can have meaningful discussions. Posts like these just leave the impression that the Northeast is full of douche bags.

This whole discussion reminds me of attending Conwell Middle School in Kensington back in the early 80s. Kensington was virtually white working class people and made it clear that minorities should be out of the neighborhood by a certain time. Think of it, adults threatening middle school kids? Anyway, I was a quiet studious kid and was only there for two years. It blew my mind that I was treated with such contempt even though I was one of the well behaved high achieving students. They did not care. I was black.

I moved to the lower NE a year ago and the posts on this board confirms why I did not consider the far NE. I dont want my kids traumatized the way I was. Although I have white friends all over Philly and the NE, I have to fight the perception from friends outside the area that the NE is racist.

I dont like loud neighbors either. My white neighbor and I have banded together to let them know.

That is what Brightside is talking about. Those who advocate judging all minorities in a negative light are not helping your community attract minorities who share your values and who would contribute to a stable community. Instead of focusing your anger on all minorities, why dont you focus your anger on those white people who left...and may be renting their properties to these people.

I wonder if some of you would label me racist if, because of my middle school experience, I determined that all whites are racist and ignorant?

I dont even subscribe to that thinking because I have traveled and grown enough to know that THIS kind of thinking mimics the ghetto mentality I grew up with: a closed tribal mindset that is scared of anything different. Im glad I was able to grow out of it. As long as some of you arent interested in treating blacks as individuals and continue feeding the perception of the NE as racist, blacks who share your values will not locate in your community.

Well, now that I live in Mayfair, should I put a confederate flag outside my house to go with the gay pride flag?

I bet that would REALLY confuse the po folk up here.
