Default Apple Farmers on Veree

Has anyone tried the Apple Farmer's grocery store on Krewstown Road, in the Krewstown shopping center? It's the same size as pathmark. I've been going there for a few months between trips to Shoprite. Their prices are pretty good, and their produce is a bit cheaper than Shoprite. On top of that, their fish, lunch meats, cheese, and meat is way on average $1.00 below shoprite. If you live near the area, give them a try. I was in there today, and it seems like they could use the business. I always appreciate local competition, especially when it's with established stores that think they have a hold on a area.

OK,

Apple Farmers is not on Verree...its on Krewstown & Bloomfield, a few lights away from Grant.

I tried so hard to like Apple Farmers, but to little avail. Something about their selection is just meh. I do most of my shopping at Genuardi's, on Huntington Pike, and supplement it with Wawa (HA! Suck that one, CC dwellers!!) or some of the fantastic delis and corner stores I have nearby. Everything else, and its off to the wholesaler.

I should mention I have the largest quantity of gum known to man. Thank you Sam'z Club!

I do hope Apple Farmers makes it though...though its outside my orbit for the most part, I'm sure it can be utilized by the numerous middle class folks who live nearby.

Yeah, my bad. Things like that happen when you type something up late at night. It is on Krewstown, but it's not on Bloomsfield. Wawa is on Bloomsfield. Also, I see that there's a stigma with shopping at places other than Genuardi's? Hey, say what you will, but apples are apples, and oranges are oranges. The only difference is how much you pay for them. LOL, especially when their sunkist.

Default I'll try them

I'll give them a try, thanks. Might be better than Acme.

Acme has a delivery service for $9.95 but concurrently offers $10 and $15 discount coupons in the store, so essentially the delivery is free.

Doesn't always work for me, though, I like to view the sales in the store, compare, etc. rather than order online from a list.

But Apple Farmers is close enough to check out.

I was expecting more than I got from this place. They have some different things... (Got some cheap Tomato plants that have been growing well) But found it to be a like a cross between say, a SAV-A-LOT and a lame Produce Junction.

Did find some Knott's Berry Farms apricot cookies! and their deli cheese was tasty, too.

Overall, good, but not appealing enough for my repeat biz.

Thumbs down Quick report on Apple Farmer's on Krewstown

Went there today with $200 to buy groceries. No problem parking as there were only 5 vehicles in the lot.

The place is pretty shabby. The shelves are only partially populated; the selection is fair to poor. The prices range from "ok" to 30-50% higher than Acme.

Shampoo and pharmaceuticals are secured behind an un-manned counter.

Left with just $38 worth of groceries. I was hoping they would be better, as the location is good.

Checkout was superfast, though.
