I agree with you that you should be able to report a broken swing, however I was applauding Grappler about how parents today have turned into wussies.

I remember clear as a bell when i was a kid they used to use STONES under the playground equiptment at Walker and Princeton. I was hanging on the monkey bars and I fell off them and landed head first onto the stones. I clearly remember my Mom picking the stones out of my head with tweezers. She didn't fire up the phones looking to blame someone, she instead fired up my hiney for not being carefull.

I think the nearest playground would be either the one on Walker street, or maybe Tacony, I'm not sure, but it isn't close that's for sure.

Why they haven't built one at Pennypack park yet is beyond me.

I was just over at the Lincoln playground, and if ANYBODY has ANY influence with anyone at all and wants the playground stuff put back, call them NOW !!

The stuff is STILL THERE, however it's in a dumpster getting ready to go. The mats have been pulled up, however they're still on the playground grounds. I took pics, however Photobucket is down right now so I can't upload them. Once I can, I'll show you what I saw, in the meantime, if you want the playgroung stuff returned or at least not trashed, start making your calls NOW !!

If you want something done you'd better hurry. Driving into work today I saw the School District of Philadelphia trucks over there with a backhoe getting ready to rip up the mats.

Here are the pics that I took just last night

Here's the stuff still in the dumpster

Here's the sign hanging on the fence

Here's some shots of the mats all ripped up

Here's the playground poles still laying on the ground

Some more of the playground

I know it's hard to see in this pic, I did the best I could, but apparently the fate of this playground was decided at a meeting in April

On another note and totally off topic, PROPS to the Lansing Knight guys for installing the new flag. It looks GREAT !!

Anyway ... those are the pics that I took last night. Hopefully what's left of the playground will still be there when I get home tonight.

I don't know.

I believe I read here that they were planning on keeping the benches there, so that would be cool. We'll see ....

all that stuff in the dumpsters looks fine to me..no cracks no dangerous anything...that playground will cost well into 30 grand to replace...the padding alone most likely around 5 grand.

That's entirely my point. If you guy's want the playground rebuilt, your best bet is to re-use the old equiptment that is still there. Once it's gone - it's gone. That's why I said if you want it rebuilt, you'd better start making your calls NOW !!

I have made calls and am pretty much stonewalled. Each number has someone telling me its a school district decision and pretty much they have no say......I was also told it was torn down because someone contacted them and told them their kid got hurt. They felt it was a liability issue.

Did anyone attend this meeting? If so, what was the converstaion / decision reguarding the playground?

Who brought the topic up and why?

Yes I am in contact with the Civic pretty regularly..

I couldnt attend the meeting due to a family member being sick, but contacted the Civic to find out what course was being taken. Told Ken I would help any way I can . The next day the playground was slated for demolition. That stuff was coming out two days after the meeting. I told them I am more than willing to help donate but who wants to donate money if the school district decides 5 years from now to throw it away again. We NEED the local politicians to help us out here. All the Civic groups in the world wont help if they ( School District) dont want it there.
