I'm disgusted with these childish tags that appear on mailboxes, lamp posts, traffic control boxes, and street signs. These "writers" obviously have no talent and they lend an overall blighted appearance to every neighborhood they touch. I usually see the same idiots' tags everywhere.

What's up with you so-called "writers?" Do you have identity issues? Doesn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention? Do you have no friends? If you have friends are they also losers like you? If you want to paint or draw, do something constructive and take art classes and stop being so loserly.

What about you residents? Why isn't anybody doing anything about it? Are you residents blind, indifferent, or both? Don't you know that graffiti in your neighborhood degrades the value of your property? Are you going to let these little punks rob you of the equity in your home?

Are you going to run away to the suburbs in search of greener pastures only to find you are now "house poor" and subject to usurious property tax rates? Are you going to find a substantial amount of your pay going into the fuel tank of your car and an even greater amount of your time consumed in nerve-wracking commutes?

I subscribe to the "broken window theory." If little crimes such as graffiti vandalism are ignored, the real bad guys will see that nobody cares and take over your neighborhoods. Are you going to be happy when some thugs are slingin' rocks on the corner and you're afraid to walk to the store?
True Graffiti Artist's,,,Isnt that an Oxy-moron. Grffiti is graffiti.
Why if you A-Holes are so proud of your stupid scribiling , why dont you do it on your own home ? Or put your real name up there ?
Graffiti Artist is like saying ,,Trash dumping Artist.

Hah, years ago, a bunch of our neighbors caught a kid spraying up a garage door on another neighbors house. His very expensive $$$ sneakers got....um....spray painted somehow . He was told to go home , and tell his daddy how his shoes got that way, and we would all be glad to discuss it with him if they chose to return...They didn't.

Are there are any clearcoats on the market that offer protection against spraypaint?

For example, when a treated surface gets spraypainted, the paint bleeds off?

My show-off little brother (13 years old) likes to climb things and jump off. He was climbing a wall recently (to jump off of course) and the police made him come down, checked him, sent him home...

...turns out, the cops were stopping what they thought was a graffitti-er in progress. He had no markers or paint with him, so he was clear of that offense. The 13 year old understood why the cops would want to stop him if that was what he was really doing - but the point is that its nice to know the cops in the area (mayfair/tacony) care.

yes it does, Septa errected a brick wall 10 years ago ti hide the bus depot from the neighborhood and cleared it with anti graf clear. To this date, when it does get tagged (its a lot more often recently, often in fact) they clean it off within a day or two and it stayed graf free for a while..

I recently went online and reported graffiti in my area. A woman called me back the same day. I asked about the tag-away stuff and she gave me another number to call. I went to the Municipal Services Building and walked away with a can of it. I'll be using it soon. Hope it works.

Cool! Just be careful of your eyes when you spray, if there is any wind blowing. Read all the cautions carefully to protect your skin, etc. I usually carry a wet cloth just in case I get any on me.

Fast Forward to today:

Daddy, Son, uncle and associated "cousins" would return with semi automatics and plug your arse.

Those good ole days are long gone.

Sure would... That's the problem today. People like that will spend more energy trying to justify the wrong doings of their offspring, rather than putting a little effort into doing/teaching the right thing.
But hey, even back then I had one neighbor stick up for her son spray painting a lady's garage door because, as the mother put it, "That bit*h called the cops on my son because he was drinking on her steps".....
