Cool Did they start the demo yet???

I was wondering if they started the demo yet? Also, does anyone have any pictures or sketches as to what that area will look like once it's all done? Are they gonna tear down the Petsmart? I hope that they make the Target look like the one up on City Line Ave. I wonder what will become of the old restaurant & Blockbuster across the street...any thoughts???/

Blockbuster is staying for now. But Hollywood(The Villa,The Place Dolly Madison House, Aunt Jemima's Pancake House) is toast.

Default ugh...

...all this talk about Target, B&N, Starbucks, etc will not happen. Remember, this is a city that had a huge hole in the ground at Prime Real Estate (8th & Market) for several years. You think something better will come for the hated North East section of this city?

Im worried about this one.

Its already established that a Target and Starbucks will be in that area. Legislators have said it, the newspapers have reported it, everyone knows its coming.

What I find stupid is my next-door neighbor. They told us they are planning to move further up in the NE soon. Their reason?

The new Target being built! They're worried it will bring 'riff-raff' into our area. Target is an upscale store, UNlike a Walmart or Kmart. And anytime a Starbucks decides to locate in your area, they must see it as a good area or an up-and-coming area (I don't like Starbucks but at least I recognize that fact about their stores!)

Well, I and my girlfriend shopping buddy are looking forward to the new Target being built along with any other improvements in landscaping and new stores being built in that area. I, too, will miss JoAnn's Fabric Shop, as I used to go there for many years with my mother-in-law.

As much as I like Target, I wouldn't necessarily say they are upscale, as we generally think of what upscale is. I think they run their stores on a much higher standard then K Mart and Wal Mart. Targets store are always very clean and organized they bend over backwards for customer service.

Default hey...

...very good point. I too am not a Starbucks fan by any means, but i do recognize its importance when determining the vibrancy and health of a region.

Stupid's a good word.
Vacant decaying buildings are ok, but a new modern center isn't acceptable to them ?
If they don't like people, further up the NE won't help too much. Philmont Hts is a renters paradise with every kind of riff-raff imaginable. Plenty of slum-lords with their trashy, weather-beaten duplexes for rent. Also, try getting around the Bustleton/Byberry area. Traffic nightmares.

I meant "upscale" as compared to the other alternatives, such as Walmart or Kmart.
