We have the same problem. We park off the street because we were hit parked in front of our house. There's an island in the middle of my street, which cuts out space right there. People don't realize that even if your car is not actually blocking the driveway itself, being too close to the driveway cuts off swing room, especially if you're backing in like we do with our truck. During the Jeanes Fair one year, We actually had one woman tell us that she had a truck at home and if we couldn't get out with her there, we didn't know how to drive! As soon a she left, we put trash cans there to leave enough space, and people moved them! Most people on our street blocked their parking spaces with trash cans and the like that week, we never did, but after that rude woman, we did.

Back to the driveway: have these people ever asked you to move your mother's car back politely? I'm sure that would have solved the problem. Now you have neighbors angry at each other. We had a guy who used to park his ugly box truck down the street near our house, probably because his wife didn't want to look at it. We asked him not to park there, he kept doing it, until we got a "No truck parking" sign put up. He continued to park there, and I put a polite note on his car. He still continued to park there until we called the cops; we jut wanted them to ask they guy not to park there, but they ticketed him anyway. Haven't seen it since.

It's not as easy to talk to "neighbors" as it once was, nowadays in alot of instances your stuck with ignorance or just the lack of common courtesy. People with the double parking in the middle of the streets for hours etc. I have a guy all the way at the other end of the block that parks a PHA truck or occasionally a bigger one with a cherry picker on it all the way down our end, never at his end(PHA call solved it). Then the new jackasses that moved next door have 2 cars and a motorcycle(a non-stop yapping mutt too) and the guy next to them a driveway, the kid actually had the balls to try and park it in the guys driveway!!! So now the bike(sitting about 4 ft from the drive so a car can't park) and 1 of the cars(parked about 4ft in front of the bike) are sitting there taking up close to 4 spots. You try and talk to some people and they think your the ignorant one, guess they'll get the idea when the HP parking signs go up......and guaranteed they still wont get it until they find that $300 ticket on the windshield.

The spot in question is for two cars, one which in front of my next door neighbors house (duplex) one which is normally his spot and there is just barely room for another car behind it, where my grandmother parks (fits to the curb). by putting this "X BOX" (no, not the game console) there takes away from not only my grandmothers spot (by the way she is 85) but everyone else's option to park there and the next option now is to park up the street, about 10 house either direction! (usually) or have my mother move her car (she has had 2 heart attacks and isn't in good shape either) out of the driveway and have her use that. because there is NO ****1ng parking anywhere, when they have a 2 car driveway/garage, and their only reasoning is because they find it hard to maneuver both cars in, which any driving permit pimpled faced student driver can do. I will eventually get back at these ignorant ****5. Where the F did common courtesy go? Where do these people come from?

p.s. i saw the bullshite permit and i cannot tell whether its legit. how am i to know how it is and not?

and why does this msg board go from last posted first? is there an option i checked or what?

Sounds like she'd have no problem getting HP parking out front if needed. Just forms for doctors(state and PPA) to fill out and $7.50 fee for tags. No placard if you want the parking poles/spot at a residence. Just make sure she's able to drive, Doctors now have the authority to notify the DMV if they consider the person a risk on the road.

Re the order of posts: go into your "user cp" and there is a choice you can make as to how you want your posts to appear, first to last or last to first.

In being familiar with this situation, it's just as easy at this location to back the vehicle straight out of the driveway, turn the steering wheel to the right and continue your journey up to the main highway, and you can adjust which way you want to go accordingly.

Shoot man, you can even turn to the left if you want if you back up from this driveway far enough

This individual has plenty of room to turn to the right once backed out of the driveway as there is an open driveway at the home next door, and no vehicles are in the way when making the turn.

Legality or not, this situation comes down to common courtesy which is lacking in this instance. If these people were in the neighborhood long enough they would be aware of the parking situation.

All the no parking space does is take away one available parking space from the block, and makes a car that was normally parked there have to park outside some other persons house, taking up a space which should be left for them (if of course you are talking courtesy here )

The parking situation on the street is tough enough, as in this day and age many households have 2+ cars, so you try to leave as much space open as possible so other vehicles whose homes are in the vicinity of the spaces can park there.

COMMON COURTESY goes a long way, but not in this situation, because there is none.

But you can ask for nothing more when you are dealing with an individual with a ME/I attitude.

Weston

In our area everyone has a driveway and a garage. Most of them have the garage filled with crap.
They park the car on the street because they are to lazy to go around the back.
How about when they have three cars and park every one of them out on the street.
How about when they dont actualy park but just pull up and stop leaving 9 feet infront of them and 12 feet behind them taking up as much space as they can.
How about if you live anywhere near a playground and the nightly little league moms do the same thing and take every parking spot on the entire street every night so when you come home from work and your wifes car is in the driveway you have no place at all to park.
I am starting to really hate Philadelphias ignorant citizens.

My friend's boyfriend came to see her, and parked across the street from her house. He came out to find a note on his car from the house he parked in front of. The note said that they didn't want him to park in front of their house, and that he should park somewhere else. Funny thing is...they had a huge driveway with a detached garage in front of their house!! It was an ederly couple who had 1 car, that was park in their driveway. Seems they didn't like anyone parking in front of their house, even though they had ample parking in their driveway.
