Ah, isn't that sweet. so you're the savior that philly needs?
Please, some of us who were born and raised in philly CHOOSE to leave for good reasons, and it doesn't require having to 'run' from anything.
Weren't no bragging in my post, just responding to another blogger who, like you, thinks they know everything.

Truth be told I don't want you to leave, so hadn't even considered convincing you to. You stay, if you're house is the last house with glass in the windows and toilets that don't leak onto the floors, you stay. Will serve your sense of 'duty' to the mayor to keep philly beautiful no doubt.

As for where I am, I do not even need lock the door when I leave the house or the car. And theres more firepower around here than you could even fathom, and not a single gang.

So, you'll take a 'stand' when the time comes? Well just when did you think that time was? And just who would that be taking a stand against?

Talk is cheap friend.

good riddance? damn right!
I think that about sums it up. You are fortunate in being able to afford to pick up and go. Many people are still here because they can't afford to move and just don't have any other choice. Or because, like me, have invested so much time, money and work in our home, we just can't bear to leave it.

Excuse me, why are you even posting here?

Oh, phillyburbs is a rather boring site, and most of the little towns surrounding us have little to zero online presence, so you're still living vicariously through us.

How about you do us a favor and close your browser.

It's not like we've heard these comments before a thousand times over from folks who aren't lucky enough to move into the nicer sections of the city and didn't care for the change of demographics in lower NE Philly so they were "forced" to move out [which basically sealed their own fate they feared].

I would have loved to had been a real estate agent involved in the practice of blockbusting (where you scare a white neighborhood by paying a minority family to move in... then causing for-sale signs to go up everywhere). I bet some people made a ton of money off of white flight.

I don't claim to know everything. In fact, I wasn't responding directly to you (apparently you do know everything, or an inflated sense of importance). I was making a general comment about the tone of this thread, and those who come on here, who moved out of the city a decade ago, to tell those of us who live here how bad it is. What I do know is how nice it is where I live. Sorry that you have such a problem with that.

Then what is your point? Why post? Do you just like to read your own words? Does it make you feel superior or smarter? Really, what is your motivation for telling residents of Philly, which you aren't, how bad we have it? Seems like gloating to me. Or justification for your own decisions.

Like I said, I'm glad people with certain attitudes have left the city. They're no benefit to me.

Sure is, especially coming from those who have already left and have no interest in the city.

Meh. It could also be coming from someone who'se job is still in the city, so they're still stuck with having to be in the city during the day and can't really remove us out of their lives entirely.

Either way, it seems rather pointless to bitch about the city on a city message board if you're not even a resident here.

You fixed your problems when you left. Is your life in the suburbs so boring now that you have nothing better to do than to harp on how bad your 4 block radius of town was when you left it?

Conversely, for as many of the negexadelphians posting, there are just as many who are registering accounts and posting "Where do I live" threads from out of town who are moving here. I guess it's a wash.

There's many blogsters here living in eastern DelCo who originally lived here and left for the same reasons, some even moving back into the city.

I just can't figger out the numerous rantings. Why 1,000 threads on the same tired topic of Frankford/Oxford Circle... and maybe once every 10 months there will be one that goes into similar crappy areas in the oh-so-nice suburbs [hint: Norristown, Chester, pockets of SNJ]

well sgho, you're a liar. you responded directly to my comment, which you miscomprehended by the way.

And look at both you clowns, why do I post here? why do I post here? who is it you think you are, what makes you think I need a reason to post here that you know about. I post here cause I want to, got a problem with that?

And who makes you think I can't care about anything, especially philly, just as much as either of you dimwits. what you telepathic, or just telepathetic?

I didn't post anything that mentioned either of you, and didn't address either of you. But you're like two little poodles nipping at people's heels cause you got nothing much to really offer. If you got a comment on the subject, then lets hear it. Who cares what you think of me, you're nothing to me.

OH my goodness! Name calling in this thread. And just where is Jenny to chastise poor, misguided 69Wildcats? Oh, wait, it doesn't work that way, since she agrees with him.
