Meanwhile the realtors are out of town, not caring how many people they squeeze into the rental, what it looks like, etc. They get their money, so what do they care? Most have sheets on their windows for curtains and 3 ft. tall weeds as their front lawns. Nobody cares except neighbors that own their homes. I don't think people that once a nice home would sell to Section 8ers. It is the realtors who see the dollar signs.
So it was realtors who screwed Philly and profited from scaring the hell out of working/ middle class whites.so much that they abandoned the city which they claim to love so much. And realtors now profiting from dumping Section 8 hell spawn. on the good townspeople.

Hmmm. Nope. not conviced it's WIC moms. WIC moms are the root of all our problems.

MarketStEl, they might have made some temporary accommodations back then, but what has happened today is a permanent accommodation. If we had phones back then, do you think if you called the gas company, they'd ask if you wanted English or Spanish? And what about all the other languages spoken by new immigrants? Why is Spanish singled out at banks and automated phone systems? The fact is that back then within a generation, the entire family except for maybe grandma spoke English well enough to be understood by their neighbors. Today you see people who have been here for years not making any attempt to learn English, they want us to learn Spanish. And our governenment has given in to them. It costs money to do that, it discriminates against other foreign-speaking immigrants, and it's just plain wrong. Make them hire their own interpreters if they insist on this nonsense.

Sounds like you mean well. Here it goes

"White Flight" is the phenomena that caused Whites to leave en masse.Years ago. (When Philly was still thriving) and it's effect on our city in particular. It's done now. over. Past Tense. Therefore it cannot compared (like you did) with someone, or a family, that leaves. for a validated and real fear for safety, better schools, jobs, transit etc..

Because it's not racially motivated. If a white couple leaves Philly today because they had enough. it fits in the same category as to why a Black or Latino left. So the white couple's move today isn't racially motivated. or because of fear of the unknown. also not typically made in haste. like during "White Flight".

Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth of the United States of America--they are legal United States Citizens. Take it up with your congressmen if you don't like it and have them make it so that English is a FIRST language in Puerto Rico if you are so hot and bothered by it.

English SHOULD be the official language of Puerto Rico, they are a Commonwealth of the US whose national language is English. And when they come to the mainland, they should be expected to speak English.

I remember the same things. Tops. where you filled the water jug lid with tar. 3-second hold. Freedom was great cuz girls could play.
Weird thing though. My block had Puerto-Ricans, Blacks, Whites. Everybody's house was clean. small lawns was neat. I knew just about every single person on the street....Go Figure

Agreed and well put. How can you be ignorant when you have lived through these experiences? They are the ignorant ones. I am going to call them Blog Bullies.

But you are discounting the real experiences of others with your preconceived notions and suppositions.

No one has lived through anything but you, the collective you?
