Default New Wawa in Lawndale

I also read in the NE Times that they are considering a new Wawa with gas station at Rising Sun & Longshore. I'm usually Mr. Anti Chain, but I love Wawa and would love to have one in walking distance, so I hope it happens. I think McKeowns Deli (sells beer too) already on that block is a great deli and will continue to do well even with the Wawa.

Maybe if Wheeler would put a WaWa in the new Rittenhouse Condo towers, Jayfar would support it.

If he can't have Rindelaubs, at least he'd get a WaWa out of it. :clapping:

Ahahaha, thanks, but no. There are already three Wawas in that vicinity - 20th & Locust (which is a very short distance from 18th & Walnut when you follow the diagonal walk through the Square to Locust St, especially since the 1900 block of Locust is no more than a couple hundred feet long), 20th & Chestnut and on Arch St near 17th. %-) We could use another Wawa a few blocks east to replace the recently closed Wawa Express at 16th & Walnut; that part-time Wawa (closed at 10pm) had replaced the 15th & Locust Wawa (busy round the clock), following a fire several years back.

Besides I have a notion that the Wheeler Tower aka Ten Rittenhouse Square will never be built. Not being one criticize development plans without offering alternatives for appropriate re-use of existing buildings, I put forth this proposition:

Sorry to diverge to a distant tangent, just trying to respond appropriately to the post. We now return to the Northeast Philly Wawa thread already in progress. %-)

In our burgeoning suburban track mall on Aramingo shortly after the misnamed "Port Richmond Plaza"...between Eckerd and Applebee's...and as much as I hate the other two and predict that Eckerd will be vacant in about a year, gotta love the Wawa.

I have never even seen that Plaza. Not an Applebee's person either. Up in Watertown, it's like the big spot in town. Can't wait to leave.
