Here's the catch, I'll be in CC for a month in Corporate housing so I won't have a car. I'll need to lug my 1.5 yo in a philly CarShare.
welcome, neighbor! to familiarize yourself with neighborhoods, i'd highly recommend just taking a car for a few hours. it's the best way to familiarize yourself with the city, especially the expansive northeast! and try taking the train that you'd take everyday to work - it'll be a big part of your everyday experience.

i also have a small child, and phillycarshare's child-friendly cars have been a godsend. there's a child seat in the back seat, which makes things more convenient. there's a child-friendly vehicle near 20th & lombard, a few blocks south of where you're staying in rittenhouse square. i use that one too, so keep it clean! ;-)

Default Bustleton

Bustleton is also a nice area. I have lived here all my life..same house all 47 years 9900 Hardy Road... 20 minutes from center city...You got Cottman Mall ...Neshaminy Mall..Oxford Valley Mall..Willow Grove Mall all accessable by bus. A playground on Conwell Ave. and not far from Pennypack Park. Target..Bestbuy and Walmart all five minutes away. In alot of our local supermarkets are free apartment guides..with prices and a little info about each one. So good luck.
