How about Greenland. Why stop at County Line? North America could "go" at any time.
I find most of the NE to be fine with a few exceptions. East Frankford and Summerdale to name the biggest exceptions.

Default How are

Tacony and Mayfair? Better to avoid them? Saw a few places there that looked nice enough online. Also saw one near Bustleton and Strahle. I mean, I live in South Philly so I'm not expecting the suburbs...but want an area where it's safe to walk alone.

I am new to the NE, and I live in the Krewstown Road area, and it seems like a nice area for a family. I really enjoy the area, good places to eat, good places to shop, but, I cannot comment on the schools, no children here. Pennypack Park is nearby, and it is quite serene walking through there.

Apartments are within your range, but, it sounds like you want a home rental. Not sure how many of those are in this area.

Best of luck to you!

Ron

Default Best Place

Tacony and Mayfair are both nice areas to live. There are subsections of both neighborhoods and different things that you may or may not like about either of them.

The best think to do is come up and take a look around. Get out of the car and walk around a little. I think generally speaking there is a little more room here then in South Philly(parking and yard area) but then you're not going to have a good Italian restaurant every other block either.

The vast majority of the NE is safe to walk in alone. Especially as compared to much of South Philly.

Default Mayfair

We live here now and are looking to move as soon as we can. Couldn't happen fast enough for me. Big changes with each season.

The one suggestion I would agree with is around Krewstown Rd. It is pretty nice up there. Especially if you pass Krewstown on Grant going toward Pine Road.

Actually, we're looking to go to Jersey, right outside of Cape May. We'll see what we can afford by the spring or fall of next year.

Good luck & let us know what you find that you like. It might help us out too.

BTW, I actually thought that comment was pretty comical. I don't think he was being smart, just spreadin' some smiles.. at least trying.

Good Luck!

Mind if I ask what you don't like about the area? I mean, I like the area where I am now. This is where my family is. But you can't rent a tiny 2 bd place for under $1500 per month and a townhouse on 2nd st by my mother just sold for 599,000! C'mon, I wouldn't pay that for anywhere in the city! My ultimate goal is to do what you are doing(move to the shore) but can't until my son is out of high school in 6 years. He doesn't want to live there.
