Default Civil War Maps of Philadelphia in The Library of Congress

1863 Civil War Maps of Philadelphia are some of the best.

There are many other maps (Revolutionary War etc.), but the best maps showing the area are two U.S. Civil War
Maps.

Instructions:

Go here:
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/browse/L...?category=Maps

You will see: Civil War Maps ~ 1861-1865 Click on it.

On the left side you will see:

Click on:

Browse Collection by:
* Place

Scroll down and on the right side click on the word:

Pennsylvania

After you do, at the top you will see:

Results 1-20 of 95 for Pennsylvania

Go to page: 1 2 3 4 5

Click on # 5

It will give you a list of mutiple choices.

Click on: 84.
United States--Pennsylvania--Philadelphia.

The map should read:

“Map of a reconnaissance of the approaches to Philadelphia showing the positions and lines of defence on the north front of the city / Made under the direction of A.D. Bache, Supt. U.S. Coast Survey, Engineer…etc.”

It is a zoom in, navigable, and downloadable map.

And the next map on the same list is:

85.
United States--Pennsylvania--Philadelphia.
United States--Pennsylvania--Philadelphia Metropolitan Area.

Item Title

"Map of a reconnaissance of the approaches to Philadelphia showing the positions and lines of defence on the north front of the city / made under the direction of A.D. Bache, Supt. U.S. Coast Survey, Engineer..."

Same thing. It is a zoom in, navigable, and downloadable map.

These two maps are similar, but slightly different. You can download them both and see them with a viewer.

You cannot print out the map unless it is in a TIF format or PDF.

(However, you can view in the other formats)

The download is here:
