Question Parkwood Like Kensington? Never heard of this

Lbomb(Quote)-Parkwood always had the reputation of being the "Kensington of the North East

My Question /Concern regarding LBombs response)
Isn`t ParkWood right by Somerton? I thought it was a nice area .

I know I was away for a long time ,but I do not recall ever hearing one say that the ParkWood Area was like Kensington.

CityMan(Quote)-Anybody out there live in Parkwood? I've been there 4 years and just wondering what anyone's thoughts are on homes, quality of life, etc.

To,CityMan-I was wondering what YOUR Thoughts on ParkWood are since you actually live there ..I am contemplating a move to Somerton in 2-3 months and thinking maybe I should also look in Parkwood, depending on what I find out about it that is..

Have a great week!!! Malisa Anne

Ugh, the only place in the NE that jumps out screaming "We're like Kenso" is Frankford. It shows.

You can see the Fishtown encroachment into Kensington the second you get close to Fishtown. Between Frankford and Kensington it looks homogenous.

I wouldn't even bitch if I lived in a house nearby to Roosymall and took a 14 bus. It's safer than living adjacent to a rich neighborhood that shares a border with one in abject poverty (re: northern border of Fairmount with North Phila).

Personally, I'd do Mayfair. It's pretty and it has spacious duplexes as well as rows. It's even prettier than it's look-a-like cousins in Delco (Prospect Park/Norwood).

And this is why you should donate to PACCA, not PETA:

In September, PETA made headlines in Vermont and across the nation for asking
Ben & Jerry's ice cream to use human breast milk in their ice cream, instead of cow milk

Legend has it that many Parkwood residents are former residents of Kensington.

I love it..

You've only been here how long and figured out why people live in the NE.

There's a real nice 2-bedroom rehab for sale on my block.... Max would LOVE the yard.

"Kensington of the Northeast?"

I hope that was a joke! It's usually the people from the lower northeast that have a problem with the Far Notheast. I've lived here (Parkwood) for almost all of my 28 years and would never live in another part of the city besides the Far Northeast.

I'm from Olney and have lived in several spots around town, including Roxborough. Parkwood is a nice area, one of the few remaining "good" rowhome neighborhoods. Quiet, relatively clean, etc. Many people have been there all their lives and the "problem" is that they don't know how good they have it. They seem to tolerate graffitti and other minor QOL things. I see the "broken window theory" at work. I'd also rather not have the WaWa since it's 24 hours, but my rowhome goes for 200 grand and I like the area. everyone has a back yard. I hope I never have to move again.
