Default Reynolds Baldwin Provides Funding for Tacony's Free Concert Series

After learning significant funding for the Tacony Civic Association would not be coming, Reynolds Baldwin, Candidate for State Representative against Michael McGeehan, provided a check to cover the costs of the free concerts.

When Baldwin learned that members of the civic would be paying out of their own pocket for the remainder of the shows, he was stunned. He contacted his former business partner George Grigos, owner of the Aramingo Diner, to provide the necessary funding.

Please look forward to the next concert at Disston Recreation Center on August 31st.

Baldwin seems to be the only one doing anything. Why didn;t McGeehan provide this funding? He is a phony.

Cool.
I'll be there...with a tank of nitrous in my van.
Stop by and I'll hook you up with a good deal on balloons.

A good time was had by all. I was a bit disappointed I didn't see Mike McGeehan there, but perhaps he was stuck in bridge traffic or was house hunting. These concerts and the sense of community they encourage are wonderful and important.

Pure hyporisy, only a true phony and hypocrite could question a life long tacony resident who was born and raised in tacony and to this day has never moved out of tacony. when your candidate, bucks county baldwin, has never lived in tacony until eight months ago. phony, phony, phony!!!

by the way, not that you need elected officials to show up, but how many elected officials where at the concert? or where you and all of the prezel cronies just concerned about one.

Sounds like you might know where he lives. Could you end the mystery and tell everyone where he lives.

Do have thing for Perzel and his family?

joefriday, all hyporisy aside, your vociferous defense of your pal is admirable. So why not lay the issue to rest and tell us all here and now: WHERE DOES MIKE MCGEEHAN LIVE?

>> McDermott Supports Curbs On Legislators "Pocket Deals"
>>
>> Perzel Charter School Accounting Flap Prompts Call
>>
>>
>> Calling it the first of what should be several restrictions on
>> legislative
>> perks, the independent candidate for the 172nd District is calling for
>> legislation which would prohibit state lawmakers or their immediate
>> family
>> members from having an interest in any enterprise that directly receives
>> taxpayer money.
>>
>> John McDermott, the former Republican state committeeman who is
>> challenging tax-and-spend liberal John Perzel for his state House seat,
>> said that the time has come for legislators to stop lining their own
>> pockets at public expense through what he calls "pocket deals" - where a
>> legislator or family member secures an interest in an business or
>> organization which is the recipient of public financing.
>>
>> "I don't think it is asking too much to have a state lawmaker recuse
>> himself or a relative from participating in the affairs of an
>> organization
>> that could be receiving the very public money that he will be voting
>> for,"
>> McDermott said. "It's time we got the fox out of the hen house."
>>
>>
>> McDermott said that a recent news report outlining a lawsuit which has
>> been filed against the Philadelphia School District (PSD) and it's former
>> director of auditing services, John McLemore, is a classic example of why
>> the legislature must begin reforming itself.
>>
>> According to published reports, the lawsuit is the culmination of a
>> dispute between McLemore and PSD over what McLemore considered
>> questionable practices by the New Foundations Charter School (NFCS),
>> which
>> was founded by Perzel's wife, Sheryl, including the fact that NFCS used a
>> significant amount of the money it received from the state to rent space
>> from it's landlord, 8001 Torresdale, Inc. - which is also reported to be
>> a
>> Perzel-family controlled organization. 8001 Torresdale then used the rent
>> money to buy the buildings it was leasing to the school.
>>
>> "These 'pocket deals' that legislators like John and his family engage
>> in - where one outfit takes money from the state and gives it to another
>> outfit which then uses it to purchase property - just reek of
>> impropriety," McDermott said. "They may be perfectly legal but it does
>> not
>> change the perception that John is enriching himself or family members at
>> taxpayer expense."
>>
>> "And what is really ironic is the fact that had John taken the honorable
>> path and not engaged in these 'pocket deals' the entire episode with
>> McLemore would not even be happening," he observed. "There would be
>> no lawsuit which the school district must now pay to defend, there would
>> no public perception that John is cashing in on his position as House
>> Speaker, there would be no dispute over whether it was right or wrong for
>> his family to start a charter school and receive taxpayer money - if he
>> had only resisted the temptation to cash in."
>>
>> McDermott also noted that the potential exists for even bigger problems
>> when the slots parlors begin to open up, as the lawmakers created a
>> controversial loophole whereby they could own up to a 1% interest in a
>> slots parlor.
>>
>> "Why does a state legislator need to have a personal interest in a
>> gambling operation," McDermott asked. "If they think it is going to be
>> such a profitable scheme, then why the blazes don't they just quit the
>> legislature and go full time into gaming?"
>>
>> "The bottom line is that the time has come to start reining in our
>> elected
>> officials and to begin demanding accountability for all of their
>> self-enriching schemes."

The wheels are coming off the track, like I said the tip of the iceberg, it looks like this McDermott guy is serious.

Who is funding Bucks County baldwins campaign?
who is paying bucks county balwins campaign manager?

I don't know anything about this article, but I'd sure love to get my kids into New Foundations charter school. The waiting list is a mile long, so they must be doing something right. All the parents I've spoken to love the school and the education their kids are getting.
