Default We do have talent!!!!

I just wanted to say a great big Congrats to Bianca Ryan of Holmesburg who won last night on America Has Talent. Yes yes I am a junkie of these types of shows, but to me and my kids it is inspiring. This child is 11 years old and man she sounds like a pro. My favorite was the Janis Joplin number that she Belted out. COngrats Bianca you so deserved this.

I thought she was atonal and screechy. I was routing for the jugglers and the harmonica kid - and Leonid.

I wish I could remember Pier's comment aboiut how people would vote for a singer - even if she wasn't that talented.

I don't think she was the best or most talented person in that freak show. Every person in Mayfair and the Northeast must have been voting for her.

Talking no, no, no

Its not America that has talent, its the television networks that hook you with bright lights, flashy sets, laughing audiences, roadside parlor tricks, and Regis.

I wish you were Regis, too.

I knew a singer would win this contest. I think Am. Idol has folks conditioned to vote that way.

Interestingly, If you're a singer, you can perform anyone's song, but if you're a band, you damn well better be doing original material. (Could you imagine a cover band winning a show like this?)

Anyway, congrats to Ms. Ryan.

Atonal and screechy = Janis Joplin. Sounds like she deserved to win.

Are you guys using atonal correctly? Most music composed since 1900 has been atonal.

We're not using the formal definition (Schoenberg's 12-tone serialism/chromatic scales), just using it loosely to mean off-key.
