Default Gasoline is way too $$. Start making your own E85.

Has anyone noticed the house on Harbison ave. (between Cheltenham and Torresdale) that has like 6 ft. corn stalks growing in the front yard? It is on the block of the small single level homes.

that's the main concern with ethanol, it takes way too much energy to produce the corn needed for it.

man, my bathroom would be a cashcow then. They'd have to make it a SEPTA fueling depot.

SAVE GAS,, buy a hybred car..get 50 MPG. Thumb your nose at the oil company's Yes No..
I heard that the oil company's lobyist's are trying to get our ever faithful politicians in Wash, DC to pass a bill that electric car and hybreds car owners would have to pay a sur charge tax to compensate the oil companys for the gas they are NOT useing .
Their reasoning is that everyone with normal cars use a lot of gas per mile driven and the others only use a small amount for each mile driven but both cars cause the same wear and tear on the roads but the hybred is not paying as much gas tax as a normal car.

Remember back in the late 70s when the price of gas went to a dollar?
And heating oil went from 40 cents to over a dollar ?
Every one was building solar heaters and all sorts of great ideas to save gas oil and money.
I just bet that if that had continued and every one had solar heat in their home you can bet that there would soon be a law that it would have to be inspected and licensed by the PGW and you would have to pay every year a hefty inspection and license fee to have it .
I just cant think they would let us get away with free heat fro the sun.

There are laws right now that say YOU cant make your own ethenol , and it would be very easy to do . All you need is a still and a bunch of corn or just about anthing that will ferment .

bla bla bla. Look at real world gas mileage for hybrid cars then get back to me. My friends CRX gets 45mpg real world, with him beating on it. $2500 car tops. pre 1990 Corollas and Civics get close to that too.

Hybrids are great, but Im not ready to spend my $$$ on one just yet. When they average 45mpg in the real world Id consider one.

A decent motorcycle gets better gas milage than any of those passenger vehicles.

If you live and work in the city and you don't want to drive a roller skate... a bike is a perfect mode of transport.

And this is why you should donate to PACCA, not PETA:

In September, PETA made headlines in Vermont and across the nation for asking
Ben & Jerry's ice cream to use human breast milk in their ice cream, instead of cow milk

at least you wouldn't have to drive a CRX. I admit the prius is overpriced but it is a much nicer car than a CRX. I rented one and we got about 42 mpg. I like the design b/c I live in a city (compact yet much roomier than a corolla) and would benefit much more from regenerative braking (76). there is very little value in it for most buyers (people with moderate commutes in the burbs). a fool and his money soon part.
