Shhhh dont say that about cops . However I think the same way and on top of that it may be the same reason they dont do much about all the underage drinking or fireworks shooting in the NE it just may be your parteners kids or yours .

New EPA noise laws only effect '06 model bikes, so all the rest are exempt.
And most guys on the bike forums are looking to buy '05's or older for that very reason. Actually most '06 owners and dealers are ignoring the new rules, because there's no enforcement. Dealers will inspect and pass a bike that has illegal pipes, if they did the mod. It's a biker's world.

Default Pipes

I know it sort of flys in the face of me not wanting to hear loud radios but when I hear the rumble of several hundered Harley going to an event it still gives me a good feeling . It just takes me back to when my wife and I rode to ralleys to raise money for MS .Or the Toy runs to hospitals . We did a lot of good , those days are gone now but not forgotten.
PS our bike had mufflers .

If you ask any biker that really knows what he is talking about they will tell you that straight pipes actualy reduces the bikes over all power . I used to get other bikers miffed at me if we went on a ride . There was allways a few that could not sit at a red light without constantly goosing the bike just to hear the blaap blaap blaap. I would say to them " whats wrong with your bike ?' They say " nothing , why ? I would say " why wont you let it just idle ? They then just look at you with the blank look that says Im an A-hole and I like hearing the noise for some reason.
You are somewhat right in your statement that state law prohibits the removal of baffels from mufflers. It actually prohibits the use of mufflers with baffels removed. In my shop I've been asked to remove baffels for bikers from time to time. They are willing to pay whatever it takes to get them out. Most of them are right before bike week in daytona (i think it is).

As far as cops not enforcing them.... try to find one philly cop who is actually trained in enforcing such a law. Just as philly cops are not able to scrape window stickers because they are not trained to inspect autos.

The loud music wouldn't bother me if it was something good - like the Stones, Zeppelin, U2, etc.

Loud cars I enjoy, especially if they are done right. A well tuned car with the right exhaust system sounds wonderful. The northeast has many nice hot-rodded cars rolling around. Parkwood has a few car guys, the area around Franklin Mills does, as well as some people around Frankford avenue.
