I was wondering the same thing. There is no equivalent web site for the area this person is in because frankly it's just not an interesting place. I guess that's why these trolls are always drawn to this site.

Good luck, sometimes these things take repeated action, and it could be helpful if another neighbor or two joins you in saying something, sort of reinforcing the acceptable behaviors.

I've thought about this too and have a theory. Let me start by saying that, in my opinion, no one needs to justify to others why they choose to live one place or another. We all make decisions based on where we are in our lives, what our expectations are, etc. However, I get the sense that people who have left the city and then bash Philadelphia on this forum are looking for any bit of discomfort or doubt expressed by people who do live in Philly to justify their decision to leave. Perhaps they, despite saying otherwise, do have some regret, guilt or even anger about their decision/need to leave. Even when people on this blog make it clear they understand why people make the decision to move, posters who have moved continue to make the point that they made the right decision. It's a very interesting phenomenom I've observed about Philly (not just on this forum). People feel very strongly about this place.

Well, for me the answer is simple. My family that does still live in Philly have told me of some of the things/changes taking place there. And, so I came on the Internet looking to read/see some of those changes they spoke of. And, when doing so I just so happened to come across certain threads here that I felt compelled to comment in. That's why I, a former resident, am on here commenting.

I really have to ignore a person who leaves the city,THEN joins the forum here, only to spew negativity in every single post.

Most peeps who leave the city end up hating it, glad I just moved to another part. Suburbs suck, I mean they really suck. Traffic, yentas on cellies driving/giving hummers, cul-de-sacs, curvy roads that get you lost. F that!

I think there's also something else.

People grew up here through the years and had really good experiences. They grew up in tight knit communities and made a lot of good memories. They wanted their kids to have similar experiences. But then they see their neighborhoods change. They go downhill (either actually or perceptually) and people leave for the suburbs. I'd guess at some level They feel that "the city", which means a whole lot of things, ripped them off.
