Thank you for all of the informaion everyone! I am going to call vector control and have them do an inspection. The rat was dead, but who knows if there are more. I guess if there are going to be rodents everywhere, I may not want to rush into buying another house. I will keep my eye out for areas in nNEe philly though. I really appreciate all of the infomation. BTW, I am not Jimmy Samuels the coach LOL. I'm a woman.

living in rowhome community like the NE, you'll always have pest problems regardless of how clean your house is. The days that you can't keep up with your sanitation within your own home, one of your neigbhor's spawn of pest will migrate to yours and vice versa. The best thing to do is get cabinets in kitchen inaccessable to mice or larger insects like roach, seal off cracks in the wall, etc. As a realtor, I've seen houses that's jam packed with junks too, those are the worst and make the best home for insects and animals so I recommend efficient and clean storage for junks.
