There are a lot of really nice areas below Cottman along with some I wouldn't want to live in either. I bought this house here because houses like this don't exist in the far NE. All stone fronts with parquet floors etc. Areas of Lawndale, Mayfair, Tacony, Wiss, Northwood etc have homes they just didn't build after WWII when they built the far NE. The areas down here with the small rowhouses declined because the demand for that housing dried up. The neighborhoods below Cottman with twins and singles are doing much better. Also, having 2 or 3 train stations and a whole slew of bus lines in the neighborhood is nice. I like being a 28 minute train ride from CC rather than an hour or more. If you leave because you're afraid your neighborhood will be the next Summerdale, you are ensuring that it will be. My neighborhood is fine and will remain so until everybody leaves to remain ahead of the curve. That philosophy will kill the far NE too.

Castor Gardens, Oxford Circle, Summerdale, Frankford...

They will be the next ghetto in Philly.

I used to have some hope but the situation is getting worse instead of better..even in the last few months.
Yes, move, run away and hope you can keep running. Y'all have an astoundingly corrupt city administration which cares not a whit for anyone of us, but you keep voting them in as fast as they get indicted. People deserve the government they allow. They take your taxes and give you nothing in return. City council people who collect 6 figures, a Mayor who's "closest advisers" are locked up for graft, malfeasance and profiteering. Yes, by all means run, it's easier than having a spine and standing fast against the maniacal thugs.

Default robberies

I would get an alarm system and /or a dog to deter robbers before moving away from an area I love...

WE all see there are problems all over this city and even in Bucks county where I work..
So hopefully we have no robberies anytime soon. its the luck of the draw , but you can improve your odds.....

Good luck all

That's right....PA has it together when it comes to affording responsible adults the right to carry firearms. It is easy. And - usually not that long of a wait down at 10th and Spring Garden.
