Hey Scoats, two more buildings that will probably give you hope. One is at 4355 Orchard street. 3 story factory, previously Henry Rheil presently Papajohn wood working.. revamping the building and all new replacement windows.. over 100 windows. They also own the building at Cloud st. and Waln st. the old Sealtite bag factory.. they are doing the same thing there.. most of the space in those buildings is artist studios...

Yesterday I walked by that building and it definitely give me hope, more hope than most anything I had seen for a while in Frankford. Less consultants, less plans, find and encourage more people like those.
Maybe this is someone who could spear head the business association, a real small business person who's investing money, time and enthusiasm. Someone who's been through what it takes to start a business from the ground up and take a chance on Frankford. A true entreprenuer. It might just make a difference in the direction of the Avenue to have actual business people doing the directing.

In my opinion, Politicians are not the answer, they, for the most part, have their own agendas and are looking to get votes. Spending alot of money and getting little done.

That's often the case but Tacony and Mayfair (espeically Mayfair) have been well served by their politicians (city, state and federal) in recent years. Frankford really has had nothing to show that I am aware of in 20+ years from its politicians. In Tacony and Mayfair the evidence is tangible with CLIP, MARC, the Devon, the new community center, banners, and more. Frankford has? The Tacony/Mayfair projects I mentioned above have been a good use of public money that have made those neighborhoods more attractive to residents to stay or move to, and/or have encouraged businesses to invest there. Nobody had any vision to build an small office building (as the start of a small office park) at new Transportation Center? A quarter of a billion dollar project (!!!) gets placed in Frankford and there's no efforts to piggie back off that? There are at least three REITs based in the metro area that could have been encouraged to build an office building there. A strong, forward looking politician could have created an environment to have facilitated it. When they rebuilt the 69th Street Terminal, there were several efforts to build off that. I don't know how sucessful it was in the long term, but there was evidence of the people trying to catch the wave.
