TIME FOR PROTEST
Maybe it's time to take to the streets. The disease of crime and tolerance of those that are the bottom feeders is eating away at the base of the lower Northeast. If Frankford is allowed to continue to rot it will, as it already has, begin to invade Northwood, Mayfair, Tacony, and so on up through the Northeast. Is it time to take a stand, pick a date and come out in force to the streets with signs, banners, voices and just say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!" "WE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!" ? It is time that the average residents and business people of not only Frankford, Juniata and Northwood - but other Northeast neighborhoods that are feeling this, take things into their own hands and not rely on these lame organizations to continue to dictate how things are going to change in Frankford. They've been trying to do this for years and years - take a look around people - it's not working! Enough of the BS! The more criminals and scum that invade this neighborhood, the more funding these groups get for programs to pamper these criminals. Where is the assistance for law abiding, hard working, and struggling people of these neighborhoods? Why aren't there programs out there to bring decent businesses, decent residents, decent jobs to the area? Why should ex-prisoners, cons, drug dealers, prostitutes, and other bottom feeders be given all these programs at the expense of Frankford and other neighborhoods? Why does all the funding and most of the decisions for the community go through the hands of non profit organizations that are making these simple A@# decisions! :explode: The Frankford Festival is coming up, it's not going to draw thousands, probably not even hundreds, but it would be a good time to at least get petitions and flyers out there to get people to sign and demand more anti-crime, anti-drug and anti-prostitution action here in Frankford. Why don't we just pick a date and hit the streets? ![]() |

You are right - petitions are not very exciting and sort of out of date unless done via a Web-Site. A TV news event would be a better avenue. Brainstorming? ABC and FOX 29 tend to be pretty good about coverage of Frankford area - still need some ideas. Maybe we should all wear Prison Orange or Prison Stripes - it would make various statements: If you happen to be on the under belly of society you get attention, funding, programs and sympathy. Or it could convey that We feel like imprisoned in our own neighborhoods by the drugs, crime, prostitution, etc.... |

Just a thought. It's a great temptation to make a big flashy spash with media and such. The media loves that kind of thing. You are on camera for 2 minutes and then forgotten by them. We need a real grass roots organization that can mobilize and continue to mobilize people. We need to shake the gound continuously until we win and they lose. Leaders we seem to have but we need to recruit more people to stand with the leaders.

I would think tying up traffic with a protest around the FTC would be pretty newsworthy. Say the intersection of Bridge and Frankford. Commuters would take notice as would Septa when all the buses leaving the terminal are 10-15 minutes later than usual.
