I guess you're referring to the taxes I will have to pay when I eventually buy a house in a year and a half? By that point, my car insurance will be lower anyway because I'll be 25, be done with my car payments, and the accidents/tickets will be over 3yrs old so they will have less effect on my insurance. And I'd rather pay the same amount of money for a more expensive(but overall nicer and safer) place to live and low car insurance(due to less risk to vehicle); as opposed to a cheaper(but lesser quality) place to live and high car insurance(due to more risks to vehicle). For example, even my friend described my current apartment(nearby Oxford Circle) as "horrific." I will post more about my apartment and the negligent "slum-lording" situation later. I'm not against buying a house in Philly, however I am against buying a house in my current Oxford Circle-ish neighborhood because I don't like the things that have been happening in that area lately.
You pay them. Everytime the property taxes are raised on your landlord, he passes them along to the renters.

Actually...I've never gotten a SINGLE ticket with the 300hp sportscar.

Ironically, the speeding tickets I got occurred 2yrs ago when I was driving my 1973 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE with a "whopping" FIFTY-FIVE hp. What crappy luck. I might still have 1point left on my record, maybe I should check that out with Penndot. That occured when I was the young/stupid age of 21, I've learned my lesson from that LOL.

Just don't forget about Bensalem, Bristol, Newtown..police.

The insurance is high in Philly but so's the speed limits.

Better get used to following the speed limits.

Oxford Circle sucks...you should have looked at Somerton or Franklin Mills...cheaper and with the lovely Woodhaven Road to run them ponies...

I beg to differ. I have a show/race car that has never been damaged and I live in Oxford circle/mayfair, and two new cars that I park on the street every day. You will not find a more anal car guy on these boards then me. Trust me. I DO rent a garage for my show car so I can work on it in the winter too. Insurance for it is well UNDER $300 a year and the other 2 cars (2002 and 2006) the insurance is about 2400 a year for both.
Oh and BTW my show car has close to 525 hp on race gas

I insured a 405hp sports car for $1900 /yr with a center city addy. For some reason, I get AWESOME quotes from State Farm. Good luck with your move, Oxford Circle has unfortunately took a turn in the wrong direction

Well, I told my dad about my car insurance price the other day and he thought it was outrageous/ridiculous. I have Progressive, but my dad said that I should get a quote from his company and a few others to compare. Part of the reason my insurance is so expensive, IS because of my age(I'm 23), past speeding tickets(I don't speed anymore, these tickets were from a few yrs ago when I was practically a different person), an accident from almost 2yrs ago, and the fact that my car is financed. Having an address that includes "Roosevelt Blvd" in it doesn't help either, considering that Roosevelt Blvd is a traffic-heavy highway and home to two of the most dangerous traffic intersections in the country(Grant/Roosevelt and Red Lion/Roosevelt). Neither do my zipcode's(19124) statistics for car theft in recent years. As far as the guy with the sportscars, he did not mention his age, driving/accident record, or how good his credit is; all these factors could explain his lowered rate. By the way, how much does credit score affect insurance rates? Progressive did a "soft inquiry" on my credit when giving me a quote. Until I purchased my new car's financing, I didn't have much credit established and I wonder if that could be another factor to explain my high rates.
