Yes, in Plymouth Meeting PA since 2001.

We tried to buy in NE Philly ( Across from Lincoln ) but school let out while we were looking at the house and ....... it wasnt what I remembered from living there in the early 1990's.

The kids coming thru the area acted like animals, I wasnt having my daughter grow up in that environment. ( she was 5 at the time we looked )

We landed in Plymouth Meeting just because we both worked in the area at the time, the car insurance is VERY low and there is no city wage tax. Funny part is that a few others on my block now are former NE Philly refugees, When my relatives come up now, they say its like Tacony in the late 70's where everyone knew each other, hung out together, etc. ......

If NE Philly made it advantegous to live there, I'd buy in a heartbeat to get back to my old neighborhood.

I'm originally from Mt. Holly but have lived here for almost three years.

Yes, you are completely right about those school girls. St. Hubert's Ho's.... They are terrible! I'm sick of the way they trash my street. Whenever I am walking back from the bus stop, I am guaranteed to have one of those girls stop and ask me for "a smoke." Or I have them ask me if I can buy them stuff. They have filthy mouths on them... I cannot believe how times have changed. Just ten years I ago I was their age and I never would have behaved like that in public.

It's ashame that this area is starting to go downhill again. Last year, a lot of homes went through a turn-around on my block and it was really looking nice. Then I thought the shopping area of Cottman and Frankford would go up, too. It hasn't been as desirable as I thought it would be... but I can't beat the cheap rent so I'll stay until it gets worse.

A couple of years back, when I first moved in and was completely shocked of the girls' behavior, I did call to complain. The school said they don't encourage that kind of behavior and were sorry to see I had witnessed such. Hmph. Talk about ignoring the problem! I doubt anything was ever done. Kids will do what they want, the school can lecture until they are blue in the face!

I've pretty much found ways to ignore it. I guess I've become numb to it. I've even stopped caring about picking up all the litter they throw in front of my steps. (I am close to the bus stop)

Marilyn,
I'm sorry to hear of your current roomate trouble. Nobody deserves to be treated like that! Enjoy those weeks in Mt. Holly before the move up to No. Jersey.

Glad to see the list is active here

The litter can get thick near huberts at times from living near there. You'd think that more public trashcans would be in order since the school has quite a few students, plus cottman loop there.
