If culture is eating at food joints, seeing shows etc., this can be done from the bubns with NO issues. All of the CC 'culture' is accessed rather easily from the burbs.
yes, I'm sure it is accessed rather easily from the burbs. probably isn;t though. I live din the burbs. "Yeah, it woudl be fun to go downtown but man, I don;t fee lliek driving that far. why don't you just come over to my place.I live in between you and bob. " Or, "let's meet at jim's (20 min away) so we can drive down together." very convenient. oh wait, you meant, taking your kids down to the franklin institute. now that is easy. you grew up in overbrook, I gew up (partially) in the burbs. you're telling me what's easy? that's like me telling you what overbrook is like. out of sight, out of mind. and I think most people think of burbs as what they have become (not what odler PA burbs are). unwalkable and isolated. yeah, I could walk to the grocery store, baseball card shop, 7-11, and park but most of new america isn't built like smal towns anymore. and that's really what I like whether I am in the burbs or the city. ilike the city for the hidden treasures you find that come with dense and somewhat diverse populations. I like that I can walk from neighborhood to neighborhood to meet friends. that a baseball game is a 10 subway ride away. plus they don't sell yard's in the burbs which automatically discredits them as good places to live. I also like the variety in people i met day to day. when I was in roxborough I found real life front porch community. peopel were friendly where I grew up but they didn't invite you to have a burger and a beer with them just because you were walking by.my parents rarely found themselves talking with the neighbors long past their bed time. and of course, the quality of the restaurant scene is subpar with a few gems here and there. thigns change. you mentioned exton. when I grew up people went to exton to go to the library or to buy weed people grew themselves. it was very much a rural. bumpkin kind of place. gas stations, and a crappy little mall. thigns change.
