I wouldn't even expect it up front from the cops. Afterall the Jordanians who live on Magee Avenue. Cappa will know who I mean. This woman parks ALWAYS right in front of a fire hydrant, and so close to the corner it's a danger. She then drives like she's riding through the desert, and she's the only vehicle this side of Jordan.
My friend actually stopped a cop, and said "Yo, this is a danger, and if there's a fire my house is going to go up because she's disobeying the law". I was with him so I can attest to this. The cop shrugged his shoulders, and told him to mind his own business. These immigrants cash in, and then blatantly disobey the law, and who wouldn't if you don't get a ticket? So enforcing the snow rules I wouldn't even expect it. That's just wrong. Meanwhile my neighbors, and I split the steps, and pavements. They then dug out their vehicles. The husband asks me "What's with the chairs?". I said you were here last year. You don't know? He goes NO. I said it's an unwritten law here. So you can now put chairs in the spots you dug out. He comes from Fishtown, and said "We NEVER did that". I hate this. Later they both pulled out, and didn't use their chairs. They've refused. Weird how only certain parts of the city do that. I don't own a vehicle so I don't care, but I have to say every single neighbor today did come out, and shovel their walks. That's a good sign. Sorry you guys are experiencing that up there in Mayfair. Lower Mayfair just needs to explain twenty times to the Jordanians there are laws. |

If I dig the spot, I do the chair thing "for a reasonable amount of time" (2 days) as unfortunately it is not a perfect world and some people are very UN -- courteous. Saves on a lot of bail money this way! That would be like driving blindfolded and expecting every driver on the road not to hit you. Say Yes To CHAIRS! :X Cappa

I'm with Cappa on this one.I live up the street from Northeastern hospital. They torn down the houses across the street to build a parking lot for vistors...the employees have a HUGH lot one block above the hospital(that they don't use). But still there's NO PARKING on my street. Now if my husband spends 3 hours shoveling, digging out and cleaning his spot in front of our house I don't think it's fair that some yahoo from the hospital come along and take his spot.Of course it didn't matter this time because our "neighbor" took up 2 spots in front and we parked on the other side... where the hospital did a nice job of burying the car while they used the snow blower to clean that side( at 3am and again at 5am).

Living in Mayfair for 37 years you notice alot. We have a political person living not to far from us and SHE has her street plowed at least twice a day when it snows. Funny tho Leon ave it will take till April to defrost. And they will not plow down the smaller streets, and as far as chairs go, the one street I lived on we had respect never took a spot it took someone 3 hours to dig out, and then this street if you put a chair in a spot they just hit it with the car and psuh it into the next spot, thats why I park out back lol
