By the way don't take your badly damaged heart to Frankford Frankford, might as well donate to science because rumor has it that the cardiology group of Hess et al...is leaving, seems there asses aren't getting paid - maybe they should try putting in for a 501(C)3 and sell some used furniture to make up the difference.
So, Pennsylvania Cardiology is leaving Frankford Frankford. Now, as far as safety and prisoners in the hospital, it's not getting any better. Tonight around 5:00 two neighbors in to visit their son in Frankford Hospital (Frankford Division). Stopped in lobby to use Mac machine and were approached by two women who were really high. No one was at the front information desk and from what we've been told in the evenings the information desk in the lobby are often left empty with whomever wants to wander in can and some are people trying to visit the prisioners. My neighbors were there to visit and were honestly afraid to leave their 15 year old son there. The mother asked to stay with him because of the prison guards being on the floor with the prisoners among the regular population of sick people. At Frankford the prison guard with the patient is usually a hootin' and a hollerin' with staff or just in general really loud. It's like a freaking nut house! Share your Frankford Hospital experiences................ |

It's really important to the community, especially with so many elderly patients with cardiac issues. Apparently they're not getting their reimbursements because of the lack of insurance of people in the area or slow Medicare/Medicaid payments. This does need clarification though. |

Back in the late 1990s, my not knowing any better, I went down to the Frankford Hospital campus in Frankford for some X-rays. The X-ray technicians were all very nice. But after a full day of having X-rays taken and just when I was ready to return home I was told a Dr. Reider wanted to see me. I went in his office and he put the X-rays on a screen and asked me what was going on. Though I was pretty tired by that point I laughed and said, "Well you're the doctor, you tell me." He then laughed and said, "Well let's have a look." He glanced over the X-rays on the screen very briefly but said he couldn't see anything unusual. And with that he sent me on my way, leaving the matter for the specialists to figure out.
Then, about a week later I got a hefty bill from this doctor. And for what? None other than what I just described above. I mean, talk about a racket he had going for himself, ambushing people when they're tired and eager to get back home. For any idiot could've done what he did, which was nothing at all. Nice work if you can get it. And shame on Frankford Hospital for allowing this crookedness to go on. And the way you describe how it's gotten since doesn't surprise me in the least! |

What is the basis for this information? Thanks! |

This is a scam doctors have been using no matter what fine hospital you are in. It not new and it is crooked. Then we wonder why health care is so expensive.

I've asked Lauren from the News Gleaner to look into it to sift out the facts and fiction (I think this is a bit more of a priority than a historic piece in the paper,(Northeast Times not Gleaner) which was nice, but this is a quality of life issue and our local newspapers are our only source of getting to the truth.) They're going to leave the Frankford Frankford division and, so far, will stay with Frankford Torresdale, but how long will it be before the same reimbursement problems follow them there? It should be addressed now. What is disturbing is that they would have just up and left and the people that this hospital serves would be none the wiser that should they be assessed for a cardiac problem, it probably won't initially be by this cardiology group. This is not a good thing. Since Parkview closed, Frankford Hospital got hit with all the same problems that plagued Parkview (patients underinsured or no insurance with not enough insured patients to carry the cost) and in order to offset the financial hit, they accepted the prisons contract (big bucks from the State) - now the safety of the general population of the hospital is at risk - it was never addressed properly. And, apparently, the $$$$$ for the prison contracts is not enough to keep some of the docs there. There should be a completely separate and locked down unit for these prisoners and guards away from your mother, father, sister, brothers, sons and daughters. And, having to deal with the visitors that try to get in to see their prisoner buddies, doing drugs right in the emergency room and lobby and bathrooms. Frankford Hospital does not have nearly enough security. Hopefully, Lauren will be able to find the real story here. Until then, if you have any Frankford Hospital stories to share, this would be a good place to do it. Last edited by Dragonfly : 02-03-2006 at 01:55 PM. Reason: Added a line of info |
