Question Northeast Bar / Club Recommendations?

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a nice bar or club for my wife and I to sit and have a nice time (we are part of the over 40 crowd... ouch, that hurt). I know there are quite a few bars on Frankford Avenue but I'm not sure what they are like. I really don't want to go into a bar and see either of my two sons or daughter in there. I know for a fact that I must check out the Grey Lodge.

Do not go to the Shammorck!!!!!! They have a bad reputation and almost on any given weekend night there are cops arresting someone!!( big brawl on Friday which I cant believe I slept thru it) Callaghans has a nice crowd. I like when they have a band and the crowd seems to be over the teeny boppers age. When we do go its on Fridays around happy hour, Its nice.

A little further up, you might want to try Michael's Cafe on Street Road. It has a little of an "older" crowd.

If I get myself motivated and plan accordingly, perhaps we can have a Grey Lodge meetup again at some point in the near future. I'm moving out of Philly at the end of March so I would like to hang out at the Grey Lodge a couple more times before I leave.

Yes, let's plan a Grey Lodge thing. The last one was in November.
Somebody above mentioned Michael's. Aren't they known for "adult lifestyle" events?

My sister and I are in our 40s and have been searching for years for a cool place to go to on a regular basis that's close to her home in Bensalem. However, we occassionaly go to Michaels (out of pure desperation) for a night of dancing. We swear we are the two coolest people there. The average age at Michaels is probably 50 years old and the crowd is not too hip. But, if you're really bored and broke its free to get in and drinks are cheap. Be warned though, if you have ever hung out at The Bank, Revival, Black Banana, etc you're in for a culture shock!!!

Try Albert's at Grant/Academy. Good food and dancing. Over 40's crowd, I believe.

After I posted my thread yesterday I hoped nobody knows who I really am because I feel like my coolness is dwindling down after admitting I go there. Funny how my sister and I always swear we'll never go back because its like being in the Twilight Zone for the middle aged crowd looking for spouse number two or three. Besides being free to get in with cheap booze, I think we go back because we secretly enjoy the culture shock. There's a revival in the Big Hair sydrome going on and they have a lot of 60 something women in mini skirts and tank tops.
