Default Have a question...

I have a double width, but shared sidewalk out front, I was wondering if I could put a fence down the middle and fence in our front yard etc for the kids.... I noticed some houses have a fence that must have been original to the houses, would I have to get a permit for this and would I need measurements when getting the permit? Or should I just chance putting one up LOL and wait to see what happens?
I dont think my neighbors care one way or another....its a rental property, but I am getting weary of having my neighbors filling up my trashcans every week, or when they empty when a renter leaves putting all the leftover crap with my trash...One day I came home and there was an filthy 8x10 carpet resting on my side window bending the screen. Last week the 2nd floor was moving out and they felt that it was okay to put all of their furniture on my* front patio and leave it there for an hour or so, now I am ornery about stuff but sometimes if they would just ASK if it was OK it wouldnt be as aggravating.

Contact L&I. You can probably post the fence if I understand you correctly, but call them and ask what the Philly code requires. Good luck.

I think that in Philly any fence thst is 3 feet or less does not require a permit.

People around me get fences all the time , and I dont think the people doing it are Permit type people. But now with L&I cracking down I guess it would be good to check.

And to to check to make sure no one would report you for retaliation.

Thanks I feel like it would solve the problem...one summer we bought one of those big three seater swings and came outside to find one of the tenants lying on it talking on his cell phone and he didnt budge when we came out...well of course not until I chewed him a new one....

Default Fence

My mom lives in Mayfair and we put a fence up 4 foot high without a permit. Been up for more then 3 years now without a issue. I think as long as it is under 6 foot. In your situation, talk to the people you share the property with and make sure they do not mind. That will pretty much tell you, permit or no permit.

Do I have to tell them they are the reason I am putting it up? LOL

Exclamation Advice

Well, if there is not already bad feelings then no. Just play them like the violin and get what you want, smile in there face. If there is tension between you's already just do your research (Like your doing) and make sure everything you do is legit whether it be with or without a permit so they can not screw you in the end and make you tear it down.
