Do note that fences serve as excellent catch-alls. Look for chip bags, papers etc.

But well worth it. As soon as I moved into my house I slapped a 9 foot high custom gate with privacy netting between my private extremely oversized alleyway and the single home next to me as well as the beware of dogs sign & motion lights. My neighbors love the motion light as the block was dark at night until I moved in. Not that we need all this stuff in the burg but it's cool!

On this first day, Cappa said -- Let there be light! I am toying with the idea of making it a dusk till dawn instead of the off and on motion. Lefevre Street will never be the same.

LOL.

There really isnt any tension* between us, I just would like to put up something that clearly defines what is MY* space and theirs....its usually the tenants that I have issues with although when the owner lived there he was a problem too. Like the time his mother in law poured straight Kerosene all over the front stoop to clean up a paint spill then proceeded to pour it and have it run onto my lawn and under my wooden patio/deck. Just glad noone was smoking in the vicinity.

We considered putting up a fence so we could give the pooch some free running space, but ultimately opted against it for several reasons. IIRC, the limit is six feet tall without a permit. The only thing to really be absolutely anal about is that it is either on the property line or just short of the property line (on your side, obviously). If it's on the other side, the neighboring property owner could force you to pull it down.

The one strong suggestion I had from two fencing contactors we spoke with, as well as someone from the city, is that the property line be measured accurately to avoid issues. Why? Well, the current neighboring property owner may sell next month. When the next person buys the property, they may have a major beef with the fence. As long at it is entirely on your property, you're safe. Getting the property line marked off accurately will cost about $100, if I remember the price we were quoted.
