Default lots of qxs

Hi there,

I am new to this forum and planning to start a program at Frankford Hospital next summer. Would it be safe to live in the area close to the hospital? What area would you recommend to live? (I have a 2 year old.) What's the best way to find a decent apartment to rent? What is approx. the range for monthly rent?
Can you recommend a child care center in NE Philly?
Is there a reasonable net of public transportation (also to Center City) or is it necessary to have a car anyway? What about parking?

I would appreciate if you could answer some of my question or even give me additional information and advice.

Thanks, tatny

Default Frankford Safe?

I think the area is reasonably safe. My sister lived in this area maybe 4 years ago and there were some quality of life issues. Overall, the area was okay. I would recommend west of Frankford Ave. The area stacks up well public transit wise, with the El and many bus routes originating from Frankford Terminal. You may also want to consider a little further up in Mayfair or Tacony, areas that are very safe and very family friendly. Public transit is not as good as in Frankford but it is served very well by bus and in Tacony by regional rail.

Default Frankford Hospital

I live two blocks from the hospital west of Frankford Avenue. We would love to have you as new neighbors but since this is a transporation hub, you should choose the best place to live for your family that is easily accessable to the area. You need not be tied to walking distance of the hospital to have an easy commute.

There are 2 Frankford Hospitals in Philly. One in the Frankford neighborhood, one in the Far Northeast, around Chalfont.
The hospital in the Far Northeast is in a nice neighborhood.
