The fisheries and ramp could really use a good clean up, I still take my kids there but some of the trash by the river makes me so mad.

It was called the Columbia Yacht Club, it's where my husband and I met!

The restaurant across from the bait shop was Vinnie's (great food) and now it's the Linden Pub. I like Dagwood's at Torresdale and Linden.

Columbia, ah yes. Thanks, Red.

Vinnie's was the place. I enjoyed going there a few times a year. We stopped going there back in 2004 or so for a variety of reasons, none of which were related to the food or the business itself. Let's just say life became more hectic.

I haven't walked about the fisheries since I was 14 or 15, but I go down to the "ramp area" caddy corner to the old yacht club a couple times a month. Yeah, it used to be a "fairly" decent place to go, hang out, chill, clear your thoughts, and somewhat clean. For about two years now, I'm thinking, since just after one of the big snow storms, it's been trashed. The city never really cleaned up after the storm, then the area flooded, which compounded the problem of debris.

One time when I was down there, when almost the entire area was flooded, I had a great time sitting up near the trees in the SUV, watching life pass by. Everything in nature was carrying on with life, only people thought things were bad. I enjoyed it -- and talk about a nice, "quiet" area -- no one was there aside from me.

I loved eating at Vinny's. Excellent roast beef sandwiches. I haven't been inside the Linden Pub. For some reason, it doesn't look that appealing. I believe the entire park is under the responsibilty of the city.

I haven't been in there either, but I've passed it quite a few times heading down to the river. I agree, I think it is the "appeal," although I can't put my finger on any one thing.

Yep, the park is undere the city's control. There any doubt why it's trashed? Maybe the News Gleaner would like to tackle this issue.

I use to love going to the river with my dad to watch the boats but that was moons ago. I took my girls down there once and believe it or not they had a nice little playgroud tucked away behind the snack stand, we would pack a snack and go down for a few hours. I still do enjoy going down with our bread ends to feed to ducks and just let it all go and not have to think about anything to pressing. I enjoy watching my kids play on the rocks and chase eaach other while i sit and just think.
