I'm digging on the term KensoLiberties. Implies the potential of the future but it doesn't white wash the not so distant past. Good one.

Really, does the neighborhood East of Broad, West of NoLibs, North of the Loft District, and South of Girard have a name? It is a pretty big swath of land so I imagine there are actually several neighborhoods within it. I've been wondering if it would ever reach "next..." status because it is surrounded on all sides by other "next..." areas, although I guess "Templetown", as the neighbors derisively call it, isn't truly one of those.

It would be a natural area of expansion for what is going on. There is a heck of a lot of poverty and housing projects in there though.

I have seen some properties listed in that area referred to as the Loft District even though it is not in the bounds, but those properties are usually only a block or two away from Spring Garden.

Where is Hal when you need him?

Going to Olde City to do your shoppynge? Or Olde Fairmounte? or even, Ye Olde Fishtowne?

Much of the area that mja talks about is an area that Chinatown developers want for an expansion of Chinatown. Don't know what they will call it . .. North Chinatown, maybe. Over closer to Broad, who knows. But wait and see, some realtor will make up a name . . . and then add a stupid "e" to make it oh, so, chic.

How about 'The Projekts' as the area is primarily public housing...

But, I think those new garden type apartments were part of Chinatown Development Corp . . . not the ones up at Poplar but a bit further south.

I wonder why everything needs a name these days. I guess no one wants to live in North Philadelphia.
