Yep...I had a meeting (for my real job) with one of their people...just wasn't sure about them being a long term answer...their volunteer fair back in early April didn't draw that well at all -- the city clean up day was going on at the same time and there weren't many people there.

These Guardian Angles were in Fishtown the other day. I did not take the photo's, it was from someone else' post. I'm not sure who organized them, or who trained them. Seems like the same idea except they had video equipment and could write (they were noting license plate numbers of cars that were doing deals)

I'm starting to think 10,000 Men Philly was really a partial attempt from Kenny Gamble to be deputy major.
I'm still more than convinced the crime problem has a partial political solution to it. We're not getting any love from Harrisburg. If you look at a thread I started -- I suggest a program where we go through our prison system and start granting early parole to most of our non-violent offenders in exchange for leaving Philadelphia. I suggest we bus those folks to Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Paxtonia, etc. and release them all at once. We could probably kick in a bonus and also toss in those who are incarcerated and have mental illness due to drug dependencies, schizophrenia, whatever. Consider this our "final barganing chip" to get support from Harrisburg to help us out with our crime problem, by dumping all these folks on HBG at once. I'm taking a wild estimate and think it's somewhere about 1,000 people. Harrisburg residents will be FURIOUS while at the same time we can quickly backfill those empty beds in the local prison system for some more offenders who are wanted and also have weapons charges. Part of our crime problem stems from not having enough room at the inn, so let's make some room. I see no problem with dumping our problem people out in the well-to-do areas of Pennsylvania to make our point. These f0cking losers are roaming around our city on a daily basis in our own backyards. Let's scare the rest of PA into action by putting these people in the backyards of constituents who get a better voice in Harrisburg than we do. Who's with me?
