City Year's 7th Annual Serve-A-Thon

Moore Recreation Center 2551 N. 22nd Street (just below Lehigh Avenue) Philadelphia, PA 19132 City Year Greater Philadelphia is proud to be involved in the effort to revitalize Cecil B. Moore Recreation Center. Located in the Allegheny West section of North Philadelphia, Cecil B. Moore represents an amazing opportunity to continuen an ongoing initiative to transform an important community resource into the neighborhood into a hub for safe and educational activities for local children. Featured in a Philadelphia Weekly cover story last year, the center's Advisory Council has led a two-year effort to refurbish the center in order to better serve the community. Some of the improvements include a refurbished auditorium, a new gymnasium, and renovations to the kitchen and outdoor basketball courts. The center offers a number of artistic and cultural programs, such as African drumming and theater classes, and is home to a wide array of athletic prorams. A Curfew Center is also housed at the center, providing professional services and a safe environment for young adults in order to prevent youth violence. This project will be an important step toward continuing the effort to improve this valuable community resource. Service will include:
