It's a shame. The pictures show it progressing pretty quickly.

How much is left? Gutted or worse?

i am guessing by the rapid spread and heat of the fire the church will come down. the old mortar and stone that made up this church will not survive after such heat. i heard floors colapssing and when i left the roof was on fire. i couldnt beleive how hot and fast teh fire was. within 30 minutes it went from a small fire near the front door to a total gutted shell.

The place is completely gutted. Action News just reported that it's been condemned and will be demolished--maybe as early as this afternoon, although I'll believe that when I see it.

One of the walls collapsed when I was there. A few houses on 32nd St and on Euclid caught fire from the embers. Really sad. Quite a few church mambers came by in tears, talking about baptisms, funerals, Sunday school. That community is hurting from this.

What a shame Wonder what caused it?

Default Still burning?

WHYY traffic report just asserted that there's still a six-alarm fire at 32nd & Berks now (at 6 pm)... that's just an error in phrasing, that the streets are closed for cleanup not for a fire that's still out of control, right?

They're still training water hoses on the site.

With any big fire like that the FD keeps pumping water on it after it is "out". There are pockets in the rubble that can still be hot. It's like a barbeque grill. The fire is out but if you put a piece of paper on the remains, if they're hot enough it lights up again.
I'd expect that the streets will be closed for another couple of days. The Fire Marshall has to investigate the building after it's safe and then the demolition can start.
