I always say that every neighorhood has it's up and downs. 23rd and Lehigh in particular wouldn't be as bad as the area around Temple or even the Strawberry Mansion area. It has it areas of drug dealing and the occassional murder, but alot of the corners have been indicted in the area, so it's no where near as bad as it was in the 90's. Like most places, if you keep to yourself and go about your business, you'll be just fine. I will say that their is a gang calld "Bloodlines" that are up the street from where your talking about moving, but they generally don't mess with adults. Did you know Jill Scott is from the area? ![]()

23rd & Lehigh is not a good area yet by most people's definitions. I concur.
I've poked my head into Cohocksink a few times and--although it has about the same rents as 23rd and Lehigh--I think it might be Philly's most surprising next great neighborhood. Right now, most of it seems like Norris Square overflow, especially on the east side, but you're never more than 5 blocks away from a railroad line (RR between 9th and 10th & the El on Front) and there's a supermarket about halfway between the railroad tracks. Port Richmond and Kensington are also nice picks for about that price range. |

Camden's always an option too.

That's like the idea of living in Soutwest Philly. I could never do that! Too dangerous! ![]()
