I ran a search and saw that two sites have been slated for grocery stores since 05. 27th and girard and broad and oxford? But there has been no news? Are either of these happening? and until they do, what do north philly/temple people do for groceries? 20th and callowhill seems pretty far. thanks for the input.

27th and girard is in process. it will will either be there or at 30 and girard. tehre was a ceremony this past year for the oxford street and broad site. as for existing super markets, there is one at strawberry plaza (2400 blk of 29th st. there is a super market at glenwood near broad. 22nd and lehigh. some on my block go to whole foods. kleins is decent at the philadelphian.

There are a few Cousins supermarkets east of broad if i'm not mistaken--largely in Latino communities...a supermarket at "Progress Plaza" at Broad and Oxford. Maybe they go to Aramingo ave if they can? Don't some of those super dollar stores also cary lots of groceries?

You mean Broad and Oxford is in progress. A Fresh Grocer (I think ... the one at 40th and Walnut)) is going there.

As for shopping, I work in around the corner from Wegman's in Jersey, so I cheat.

I didn't see a thing happening at Broad & Oxford (Progress Plaza) when I was there about two weeks ago.

Will Acme deliver groceries to North Philly? That might help people.

It is. They have to relocate stores into the back strip first, etc. Everything has been approved. Money is there and everything.
