Default strawberry mansion

does anyone on here live in strawberry mansion?
i'm moving back to the city from baltimore, wondering if my old neighborhood (30th and cumberland) has seen any improvements with the wave of gentrification that i've heard about in philly.

While it's not Strawberry Mansion proper, the big developments in North Philly (West of Broad) are in Brewerytown (I'm not sure if that name was in use in your day - the realtors have repackaged dozens of neighbohoods in recent years to attract buyers!)- around 31st and Thompson.

Just in case you haven't read of it, Westrum Development built nearly 150 new garage townhomes with more planned and smaller scale developers have followed. Here's Westrum's website: http://www.westrumhomes.com/brew/index.html

Default Neighborhoods

This website was on here before...some interesting pictures of Philly neighborhoods. Just click on the name of the neighborhood you want to view. Strawberry Mansion doesn't look so pretty anymore.

Members of my family lived in SM back in the 1940s...it was beautiful back then, if the old back and white pics my family has are any indication.

I also have a book given to me by a friend, entitled, "The Way Things Were", about growing up Jewish in the Philadelphia of yesteryear. Most of the book deals with Strawberry Mansion.
