East Falls Marketplace will be very close to Strawberry Mansion. With this and the public housing, I think this area will gentrify at least a little bit.

Just in case you haven't read of it, Westrum Development built nearly 150 new garage townhomes with more planned and smaller scale developers have followed. Here's Westrum's website: http://www.westrumhomes.com/brew/index.html
It's pretty amazing to see. I was photographing murals/mosaics on the Girard Ave Bridge and snapped this shot of the environs:

Looks just like the 'burbs, except for the rowhouse foreground right.

I honestly think that SM (between 29th to 33rd e to w, and the R7 line to Lehigh s to n), wil be gentrified, not like UC, but more like Mount Airy in a way. All that needs to be done is to fill all the lots will top notch infill (not the crap you see on Erie Ave in Nice town form 15th to 17th, they need to tear those down, NOW!!!) with all the detailings.

In the years we've been cycling along the perimeter of the park, we've seen signs of improvement, if not gentrification. There's some wonderful housing stock up there. I wouldn't mind moving there, except that we heave a huge omigod at the thought of ever packing up again.

I live around 28 & Ridge. Trust me, the gentrification is a long way off from this part of N.Philly. Not to mention that 30th & Cumberland is not the safest neighborhood, either. Give it another decade or so.

The Wall Street Journal of all things had a story about people who keep horses there. I don't have an online sub to it, but pm me if you want a copy of it from the wire service--I think I can still get it.

I think it's in the free section. See separate thread: "The Horsemen of Strawberry Mansion" in this forum.

Thanks. Anyone is welcome to poke around in anything that's open to the public.
